The Best Burgers in New York City
A mixture of down-home charm and gourmet burgers, in a weird annexe to this plush Manhattan hotel. Entirely deliberate, of course.

What you get here are happy, smiling faces behind the counter as you respond "Yes, I would indeed like fries with that!". Smiling because they know they're serving you the 'best burgers in NY', rather than the usual slop we're used to (White Castle anyone?? Dear God).

In the UK on the other hand, we are breeding a new range of gourmet burger bars, all of which is fine, but it takes a certain natural confidence to dress a place up like greasy State college canteen and still manage to pack it out every night. Elvis would be proud.

Cosy Cafe for a Continental Power Breakfast
Truc Vert is a cosy friendly French deli / restaurant in Mayfair. I recommend it for business meetings and for pleasure. Service was efficient, breakfast was good and ambiance was busy but not loud. However, I found the coffee a little too strong and the orange juice a little too weak.

The place is frequented by Mayfair venture capitalists, (we ran into at least two while we were there), so you may need to keep your voice down if you're doing a deal.

Truc Vert have opened another venue in Cambridge. Perhaps they really are going after the VC market!
