A nice little find
Capriccio is a nice, traditional little Italian in Hazlemere. I've been twice under two different owners but both times has been lovely. The food is really great. I adore pizza and stonebaked is the best for me, which is what they do here. I'd definitely recommend it for the food. It's not brilliantly located and it's not the prettiest building but they have made a lot of effort inside. There are murals of italian places on the walls and candles. However, the atmosphere can be somewhat lacking, as at least the last time I went it was really quite empty. Even so, the waiters are attentive and nice and the food is well resented. You're not rushed or too bothered by the staff which I always find a really good point for restaurants. I don't think it's worth travelling very far for but it is certainly good as a local.

A real hidden treasure
My boyfriend showed me this small quirky pub after dinner in Covent Garden for drinks and it was instant love! They sell some of my favourite cornish ales, as discovered on a recent holiday. It can be quite crowded but that's because it's such a nice atmospheric little bar, emphasis there is on little! They have a balcony which is nice to sit out on if the weather is good. It's really just a shame that now smokers all migrate out there which isn't so fun for non smokers! It's not the cheapest place you'll ever find but it is certainly cosy and a nice place to relax, perhaps to meet friends, have a drink after work or just as a watering hole before going to a club. It's in the centre of covent garden market which is very convenient although I'm not sure I want to tell you exactly where it is or it may get even busier ;) It's worth a visit simply for its unusual nature, it is far more interesting than most pubs!

The best buffet
If you like buffets you are going to love taipan. Just out of the centre of Uxbridge it's a smart, modern restaurant with plenty of space and great decor. It can be up to £14.95 but it is all you can eat and there is a massive selection, including desserts of jelly and ice cream. I have been several times as it's really the best chinese you can get in the area. You can find cheaper buffets but you can't find the quality of taipan. It isn't very often that you find such good quality meat as is produced here. I think almost anyone could find food they love here even if they aren't usually a big fan of chinese. You can have a full 3 course meal but instead of 3 dishes you can have as many as you like - no more stealing off your partner's plate! You also get to choose one freshly, specially prepared main course with rice and the drinks are always speedily served. I absolutely love it and can't recommend it highly enough!

Good in the summer
Nona Rosa holds special memories for me as it was the restaurant I went to on my first date with my boyfriend. It was a nice July evening and we fancied an Italian and he had heard good things about Nona Rosa. They have a lovely little roof terrace where we sat out. It was really pretty with plants around and we had a good amount of space to ourselves. I'm not sure what the inside is like really as I only walked through but I don't think it's necessarily anything special. The food seemed pretty authentic and was nice although yet again it wasn't anything too special. It was very nice for a first date though as you wouldn't want anything too flashy and distracting! It is nice and intimate and from the terrace you'd forget you were in Uxbridge, so for a romantic night it's quite handy :-p

Great food in a great place
I visited Edwinns with my boyfriend for a nice meal as he'd been there before and enjoyed it. We had dinner so it was too dark to see what I have been told is a spectacular view out the front. But the inside is just as lovely. It is very comfortable and cosy. The staff are really great and the food was brilliant. I'm not always that fond of fancy food, which is what Edwinns do, but this was very nice. It wasn't actually particularly over priced either. It was a really great evening with a lovely atmosphere which could work for all occasions. For us it was romantic but it could be celebratory or good for families! I would certainly go there again. They often have toptable offers too which makes it possible for most people to go. I would really like to go for lunch though to take in the views and enjoy it in daylight.

Too pricey
My boyfriend recommended the roxy after having had some good nights out there. He said it was cheap and good music. Well, the problem was that this has changed. I found it completely lacking in atmosphere. It was crowded and dark with a very small dance area spilling out in front of doors which staff were constantly using. The music wasn't great and the prices were astronomical. It is probably quite average for London but over 16 pounds for a pitcher of "cocktails" is too much for me! We got a Mai Tai but it was basically all pineapple juice. Not worth the effort. I needed alcohol to find this place acceptable but I couldn't afford it! The queue for the cloakroom was stupidly long and there wasn't enough seating. It was also quite cold. I really didn't enjoy my evening in the Roxy and I doubt I would ever venture there again. It wasn't at all fun which was massively disappointing

Shabby but cool
This was the scene of my 18th birthday clubbing. It was a really good night - cheap drinks, good music (this particular night was retro pop) and a good atmosphere. The bouncers were friendly and wished me a happy birthday! The decor was a bit rundown so if you want a nice swish night out then metro is certainly not for you. It's not a real dress up place or anything but if you're just looking for a night out with music, good prices and mates it's perfect. My boyfriend and his friends love going to metro as they often play a good amount of rock and punk you don't get in a lot of places. It's well located too, at the tottenham court road end of Oxfor Street. It's easy to find and there's a good kebab shop nearby! I can also say it's probably not horrendously loud as I managed to fall asleep next to one of the big speakers!

Very good fun
I've spent two evenings here and both times its been brilliant. The first was your usual kind of night at a comedy store. The comics were brilliant and we had an extra treat in that Jo Brand and Jack Deen turned up out of the blue to try out new material! This was really awesome! The second time was for my sister's birthday and we saw the comedy store players, an improvisational show with suggestions from the audience. I wasn't sure what it would be like but it was really great fun! They were brilliant and I'd certainly go again for either show. Also, drinks aren't unreasonably priced and they also sell some food. I've had a brownie and ice cream which was good! I really love the comedy store and can't wait for my next visit, hopefully it'll be soon!

Good for theatre go-ers
I had a pre theatre dinner here with my family and it was a really nice dinner. The atmosphere was good and the location was very convenient for our theatre near the strand. The food and service were both good although it was perhaps a bit crowded. It was quite a pricey place but if you have the money it's worth the spend as it was a very good standard of food, especially my steak. It's a sort of upgrade of traditional British food which I always enjoy. Inside it isn't particularly posh, it has quite an american feel too with dimmed lighting and comfy seating which really add to the atmosphere. We also got to our play with plenty of time to spare so I'd recommend it for a good meal before a show.

Well I certainly would not agree with the above reviews saying that The Loop is dreadful and overpriced! I came with my boyfriend for a meal before the cinema and we took advantage of an offer of 2 courses for £9.99. I don't know about you but I'd say that's good value. I thought the atmosphere was really great. The decor was really fresh and modern but still comfortable and the restaurant was nicely detached from the bar/club area so you could still talk with ease. Our food was superb and the menu was really varied. For example, My boyfriend had a burger and chips whereas I had a green thai curry! I thought it was a really lovely meal and the only drawback was our rather hapless waitress but to be fair to her it was only her first day on the job and the other staff helped to make sure our evening went smoothly. All in all it was a good meal and I would recommend a visit.
