Flowers everywhere
The now very famous indeed columbia road market is a must visit on a sunday. Get there early, it is open from around 8am if you want to bag a particular bargain. Plant lovers from all over london come to find beautiful plants and flowers, bulbs, evergreens and exotics. It is usually jam packed with both plants and people, so a bit of forward planning may be needed if you want to take home a bigger plant. Check out the tree ferns . Lots of other no plant stuff for sale also. You can reach the market by either bus or tube, but I think that it is possible to park your car for free on the north side of hackney road as the traffic wardens do not operate on sundays. There is also a school car park for a small fee which can be used.

British museum
The british museum is a winner, with so much to see, from the wonderful sculptures to the world famous and disputed elgin marbles, it is a great place to spend a day. You often see artists with their sketch books out which is charming. The eygptian galleries are incredible. In fact it made me wonder what is still left in eygpt, the huge carved marble and granite animals and statues are a must see.
The world famous rossetta stone is housed here too without it we would have not been able to understand hieroglyphs. The mummy section is interesting but not for youngsters really. There are sitting and eating areas where you can unwind for a while, but again, make sure you have comfy shoes as there is a lot to see.

Victoria and Albert
The victoria and albert museum is another, of our fine museums and houses vast collections from all over the world, including ceramics, fashion, photographs, sculpture, textiles and paintings and much much more.
At the moment you can see the fashion verses sport exhibition and the story of the singing group, the supremes exhibition shows the outfits they wore. There is free entrance to the through the looking glass tunnel and a japanese calligraphy exhibition also with free entrance. You can eat on site either by taking your own packed lunch as we did, or in the onsite facilities. So much to see it is hard to pick a favorite, a quality museum.

Good
The science museum is another of londons must see places. The entrance is free to all and it is open from 10am till 6pm most days.
You can find out about space travel and satellites and learn about our solar system.
The engine hall has a great collection of machines on display, some moving. So many things are here for you to see and do, it really will take the most part of a whole day to see all you want to. So make sure you wear comfy shoes and plan what to do for lunch. There is a cafe here but it is pricey and you could get something much better, or take something with you. They allow eating in the picnic area.
The museum shop has lots of gifts on show and catches most people for the odd item or two.

They have a giant squid
The natural history museum is worth a visit for the prospect of seeing the giant squid alone, but there are other things to excite you there too. This includes the life sized blue whale.
The best thing about it is the way it is all laid out, which makes it easier for you to wander about and see the things you are most interested in.
The dinosaurs are a must do, but there is so much more to see. Like learning about volcanoes and earth quakes. The visions of earth section is great, you get to travel through the earth on an escalator, look at a massive infinity set of screens showing the earth, its really well done.
It is free to get in and this makes it even better.

Tussauds
The usual celebs and kings and queens of past and present are all on show at madame tussauds for all to see. If you want to see how tall Tony Blair really is or come face to face with the pope, then it is a must see.
It is only a short walk from the baker street tube station and buses do stop near by.
You can take a mini black cab ride through london, passing through various events starting with the tudor period on the way. Do not forget the chamber of horrors, always a crowd pleaser.
It is open from 9am till 6pm most days so that gives you more than enough time to see it all. On the rides children must have an adult with them if they are under the age of 16. Plenty of half price or buy one get one free vouchers about for this.

Dungeons
The london dungeons is a hair raisng day out for the children, not sure if its a punishment ora treat really. The actors that are in costume are good at catching you off guard and scaring you.
The dungeon shows you historical content in a fun way. Sweeney todd may want to cut your hair, ooh risky, you get to learn all about the great fire of london in 1666, there is a labrynth of the lost, experience the great plague, with smells and sights to match it is full of fun.
It does get very busy and so waiting times can be longer than you would want them to be. The price is not cheap but you can often pick up half price vouchers for the dungeon, so look out for these and then is you find its not as good as you thought at least you will have paid a bit less to get in.

QUACK QUACK
The London Duck Tours company is such a good idea to go out and see parts of london in a new and fun way. It is a real winner.
The family ticket is £57 and is for 2 adults and 2 children, which is not too bad.
Your tickets are for a one hour and fifteen minute tour, which leaves from an area just behind the London Eye. The big yellow amphibious vehicles take you on a fun route passing famous london landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament , Trafalgar Square etc. You see such a lot.You get told interesting facts along the way too.
Then the duck takes you on and launches into the River Thames from a slipway at Vauxhall for the part of the tour that is in the water. Such great fun it is. A bizarre but wonderful way to see the sights, thats for sure.

London eye
The london eye is set on the side of the thames, in westminster, right by the aquarium.
If you have a spare 30 mins then forget it, even though it only takes about that to go round once it takes much longer to get on in the first place.
The pods are see through and so you do get the best views from them, once you get used to the open feel of it all. They do pack you in though so do not think you will get a pod to your self coz you need to pay more for that.
Later in the day the sky will be wonderful and the softer light makes it easier for you to see without straining your eyes.
It is reasonable enough in terms of price and nice to say that you have been on and seen london from a different view point

Crowded
The famous tower of london is a magnet for every tourist who visits london and you can see why. It is great, full of lots of things to see and enjoy, the beautiful collection of crowns and jewels is well worth looking at.
The white tower is good, but part of the outside is being renovated so it is slightly hidden from view.
The beefeaters are great. You can tag along on one of the regular tours that they do and they tell you all those little things you would not have learned otherwise. They are fun to listen to and it all adds up to a better experiences you have a few facts to remember.
You can buy a ticket that allows you to go again and this is a good idea as you really need more than one day to see it all. We are so lucky to have it.
