Good range of bottled beers. Food looked good too.

Too popular for its own good and getting to the bar can be a nightmare at busy times.

Nice arty-farty pictures and furniture.

Located just off the Shoreham beach roundabout the Royal Coach is a large independent pub and restaurant.

There is a good menu complimented by a carvery on Sunday lunchtimes. The dessert menu is lacking though.

Service was attentive and friendly and prices reasonable.

The biggest let down of this place is its tatty state. It needs a good makeover (and a good dust ta boot!)

The pub does various things during the week - including live music on a Saturday.

Putting penne to paper at the old town hall
Stylish Italian restaurant located in the Old Town Hall on the High Street.

Extensive menu, great quality, and reasonable prices lead to a good experience. The portions are very generous and it's difficult to manage 3 courses.

Some outside seating with a restricted view of the harbour.

Service ok - not their best asset.

Great cake selection and a good snack/meal menu. The only negative point is it was slightly over-priced.

Nice woody decor inside and a decent amount of outside seating. Was incredibly busy with a long queue with the manic waitresses regularly dropping things - so popular they could do with bigger premises.

I'm sure if I had tried a more substantial meal it would have earned 4 stars but for now 3.

Shame it's not open in the evening really.

Toby or Not Toby
Tried this as the Downlands Toby was too busy and kindergarten-like.

Premises not as good (smaller, cramped) and parking a nightmare.

Pub is ok though and the food was fine - the Yorkshire puds were better here. Some of the tables are right by the carvery queue which personally I would hate. Remember you can have your meal in the pub section if there's a long wait for a table - just pay at the bar.

Bloomin' Marwellous
Highly enjoyable, medium sized, zoological park set in peaceful Hampshire countryside.

Good variety of animals in well maintained habitats. I've been to many zoos and this was the first place I'd seen a giant ant eater.

The park is nicely laid out - there is a road train and mini-railway to help you around the park but it's not too much effort to walk the whole way round. Mobility vehicles are available too.

Various eateries exists around the park - not all are open during off-peak days.

Good value for money - there's enough to keep you occupied for at least 5 hours.

There is a hotel on-site if you wish to make a special visit.

Out For A Duck
The WWT Arundel Wetland Centre offers 26 hectares of tranquillity - if you need to de-stress this is the ideal place.

The electric boat safari is good and the visitor centre is modern with a good restaurant offering home-cooked fare and they sometimes do BBQs.

Check the internet for ticket discounts.

Probably only enough for half a day but then there's a lot other things to see in picturesque Arundel.

One of the best value for money carvery restaurants in the area. They don't use the best cuts of meat as you might get in a Toby but they are generally of decent quality. There is always the choice of 3 meats one always being turkey. A few other options are also available. Dessert portions are generous.

Can be hit and miss like any carvery depending on the time of day, how busy they are etc.

Seating is a bit cramped but ok. Service ok too - can be difficult to get their attention when busy.

The pub is also fine. The car park is too small though for the size of the place.

Hangleton Manor is the 2nd oldest building in Brighton and Hove and is said to be haunted (by a customer still waiting to be served?)

I have eaten here a number of times in the last year and the food has always been good. The menu has changed a few times, sometimes for the better, but sometimes for the worse. It's always a subjective thing depending on your tastes.

Service this time had a lot to be desired - it has definitely deteriorated. The menu selection is also not as good as it was.

The food was cooked and presented very well and is value for money.

As a pub it's nice in the summer with a nice rear lawn and seating.

Decent greyhound stadium with good amenities.

Ate in the restaurant overlooking the track. The food was above average and reasonably priced. Good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Starter and dessert selection not very good though. You don't need to move as you can place your bets at the table.

Remember to book as it is very popular. There is also a cheaper canteen option or an even cheaper grill track-side.

They were so busy it took a long time to get the bill.

Car park is rather small but there is a Coop car park which you could use.
