FC Magnet Bar is something of an institution in Berlin Mitte: this is where you go to watch football. You need to be early to get a seat or even somewhere to stand, because it is always crowded. Whenever the temperatures permit you can sit outside and watch the game on a screen in one of the big windows. They usually show the good match (i.e. Werder) on the big screens and the not so interesting ones (i.e. Bayern ;)) in the cellar.
There's all sorts of drinks, but i suppose 90% of sales is on becks.
Every now and then the FC Magnet Bar hosts legendary parties on Friday nights, but the dates are not fixed so watch out for posters.

This tiny place on Gormannstrasse close to Rosenthaler Platz in Mitte serves by far the best coffee - and they do the best milk froth, too! - at very reasonable prices. There's a big black leather couch to spread out on and read and a couple of small dark wooden tables. The selection of music is great, varying between classical and electronic...never gets on your nerves, just right.
Lois also serves food: quiche, an amazing cheese cake and a couple of sandwiches - all homemade.
A big plus: you get a glass of water with your coffee without having to ask for it...and endless refills.
The guests are surprisingly international for this hidden little heaven. This and the friendly staff (Jo!) makes it a great place to hang out.
