I have had the immense pleasure of staying at this gorgeous boutique hotel in the heart of kemptown. My mum got my husband and I 2 nights here as a wedding present and it really was luxury. Stunning themed bedrooms with breakfast in bed - the works - mini bar, full extras like hairdryers etc. Breathtakingly beautful and the guys who run it were VERY friendly and conscientous. Would love to stay again one day - could not fault it. For people unfamiliar with brighton, kemptown is considered the 'gay' area, so please do not stay at this hotel if you are going to make people feel uncomfortable with conservative or bigoted attitudes. It's a really friendly community and all the shops and restaurants nearby are fab.

This is one of those all you can eat chinese buffets and it's on on head street in central colchester. i.e. it's on most of the bus routes but if you want to park then you will have a small walk. I haven't been since I was a vegetarian so cannot comment on the meat dishes, but veggie dishes were massively limited and I had to eat strips of mattress in sticky sauce - tofu, apparently... good value seeing as you can have lots, but cannot really comment on the quality seeing as I was only able to have a tiny selection of what's on offer. Nice decor inside though and everything so I would probably go again to taste the meat dishes.

la tasca is a spanish tapas chain. The restaurant itself is very pretty in the evening, red, orange and glowing with candles. The food is very tasty but you don't get a lot for your money - even as far as tapas goes! For people who haven't had tapas before, it is a traditional Spanish way of sampling lots of different dishes in small quantities. When you order meatballs, you get two of them in a dish. When you order potatoes, you get 3 or 4 lumps of potato in a dish... Order more than you think you will need, but it might cost quite a lot. Or eat before you go there!! On north st in town centre.

Much like Picasso's in Brighton's Lanes (no relation though apparently!) this restaurant serves very cheap Italian food, around £7 for set 3 course menu, or £4 or so for a pasta or pizza dish on its own. Tasty enough, but know what to pick from the menu. Don't expect haute cuisine so go for simple, basic Italian food and you won't be disappointed. Pretty and simple inside with tealights on tables and genuine Italian staff! Go here quite a lot as it's very good value and great for lunch if you've been shopping because it's set amongst all the lovely shops and restaurants in the lanes.

I love this restaurant. It is small and intimate but always packed - a good sign! Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is just gorgeous. The great thing is that you can BYOB - bring your own bottle - which when eating expensive food like thai is brilliant for keeping the price down. Really good here, I love it. Used to live down the road but sadly have not visited since we moved as it is in seven dials, i.e. NO PARKING ANYWHERE!! it is on the 7 and 27 bus route though which comes through town. It is also walkable from Brighton's main train station if you don't mind walking up hills! It is definitely worth it.

This place does stunning thai food. It is set in the wonderful kemptown in Brighton, and has a great atmosphere. It is lovely inside, with some areas where you sit on cushions on the floor, and some with pretty tables filled with chilis as decorations and glass tops. The food is absolutely wonderful and the staff are so lovely. It's definitely an authentic Thai experience and I would urge anybody to go there - even as someone who isn't keen on spicy food, it is so tasty that I don't care how hot it is! So definitely try it - it's quite expensive but as a treat you cannot fault it.

The badger's watch is on the edge of peacehaven, next to Brighton. The staff are sometimes a bit arsey in here but I will still keep going because their prime scottish beef burgers with bacon and cheese and mayo have me dribbling just thinking about it! MMMMMMM. open fires, cliffside view and ample parking - which is a definite plus given that the buses aren't so great or regular in this area, especially in the evenings. Good for families but be prepared to wait for a table and for food when it's busy. Oh and 30 mins queuing at the bar for a drink...

Well we waited an hour and a half for a really crap roast dinner with cold gravy. None of it was freshly made - frozen prepared veg etc. Staff incredibly rude and unhelpful, even sarcastic! We had to sit on these really tall, uncomfortable bar-stool type wooden things, cramped around an equally tall and ridiculous table. It was unwelcoming and the food was so bad I don't see why it took an hour and a half - defrosting frozen rubbish should only take a couple of minutes! Have heard that people went a few years ago and it was good, so it's definitely gone downhill. Will not go again.

Oh dear! Well no wonder this hotel was dirt cheap - it was next door to an aldi on an industrial estate! When we booked this we were naive and optimistic, thinking that it was just really good value. Well even at £25 a night it wasn't - and that's saying something!

Avoid at all costs unless you have a car and aren't bothered about creature comforts.

Had to walk nearly 3 miles - up a big hill and along a motorway with no pavement - to reach this place, and would never go there again! No kettle or drinking water in the rooms, no breakfast, no restaurants or sights nearby as it is right out of the town. There is a bus every hour or two but the driver we had on the way back into dieppe (didn't know about the bus on the way to the hotel) was quite mean and overcharged us.


NO NO NO! Don't come here for a romantic break, whatever you do! Perhaps for a rubbishy business trip or something dull but even then it is a really bad hotel.

As we all know, it's location location location! When you visit anywhere it is important and the ramada is right on the seafront which is lovely if you happen to get a view from your room. as with all hotels and attractions in brighton, parking is limited, and it's a bit of a walk into town. You have to reserve your parking in advance with them and i think it's about £10 per day, with around 10 spaces for visitors cars. They have nice en-suites though, and it is clean inside which is what we want. Would stay here again but only if I was using a discount or promotional offer, otherwise it could be a bit overpriced.
