Either you love flares or you don't
Flares is another one of those bars whereby you really love it or where you wouldn’t be seen dead in it. Usually full of students from the university on Monday and Thursday, Flares appears to plays music solely from the 60’s and 70’s so can as such can only be taken in small quantities. Drinks wise the prices are some of the cheapest in Guildford – ranging from £1.25 a pint and £1 for shots. It seems to attract the just turned 18 crowd which can put some people off as can the sheer strength of cheese that oozes from the venue itself.

Typical yates bar
Having spent many drunken evenings I for one am very sorry it has closed. Where else in Guildford can you get a round of drinks with a tenner and still get change? I agree that the service from bar staff from pretty poor although I always thought it was a little better than any other bar nearby and wasn’t half as packed as Flares or Weatherspoons. Food was shocking and I definitely won’t miss their Curry or Sunday lunch meals. On the plus, it was one of a few places whereby you could get a seat on a Friday night and that certainly can’t be a bad thing.

Cheap student bar
Bar Med is the place to go for cheap drinks on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday night. Usually full of students and people under the age of 30 this bar is the best place to go if you are on a budget and are planning to go to Harpers nightclub which is just round the corner. During the day the bar is like a ghost bar with very few drinks on offer and the food on offer being below average even for a bar in terms of quality and quantity. When this place gets busy (which is often) it is very difficult to move and the door staff aren’t the most friendliest either.

Great value
After visiting the Francesco's in Windsor and enjoyed the experience so much I thought I would give the restaurant in Maidenhead a try. Despite being really busy the level of customer service we received was almost perfection – waiter gave helpful suggestions and was able to assist my friend who had a young child with her. Would recommend the lunch time set menu as it is excellent value at £8.75 for a 2 course meal including a wide selection of fresh pastries and cakes. Unless it is really sunny outside I would recommend sitting indoors as it can very noisy and windy otherwise.

Good for Ales
The Hobgoblin has to take the award for Maidenhead’s slowest serving pub for both food and drink. Drink prices too are quite expensive considering how many other pubs are nearby and lack of customer service inside from bar staff. Food too isn’t the best in terms of quality and quantity. On a Thursday night the place is usually packed although there is no normally no more than two people behind the bar. Regulars appear to be between the ages of 18 and 25 with the music to accommodate to their young trendy tastes. On the plus, there is a good selection of Ales

Cheap and chearful
Probably the fastest restaurant in Maidenhead to be seated, served and pushed out the door. Although not the most of comfortable of seating, the quality and range of rice and noodle dishes sure does make up for it. Food portions are enormous considering the low cost of each dish and works out at about £10 per person including drinks. This place can get very busy due to its location but staff are very efficient and you are usually in and out within 45 minutes. If you take away your food they offer a 10% discount off your complete order including drinks.

Good to watch sport here
The Bell pub is the perfect place to watch another major sporting event with numerous Flat screen Hi-Def TVs scattered around the bar and seating area. Service on the whole is very good although it can take time to get served when England, Man Utd, Chelsea are playing. Drink prices are quite high although it is not part of a chain and almost has a local pub feel to it. Food here is abit hit and miss and the quality varies on what you order and what time of day it is. In the second room there are half a dozen pool tables and for £1 a game you can’t complain

Almost empty all day
If you love cocktails of any sorts then Que Pasa is definitely the best bar in Maidenhead to Visit. Usually there is some sort of happy hour every day whereby you can pick two drinks for the price of one which is always good if you are on a budget. Food here isn’t the best in terms of amount, taste or presentation so I would suggest going elsewhere if you want a bite to eat. Service is very good and usually very quick only because it rarely is busy which also means it is suitable for a quiet drink after work or for a liquid lunch.

Typical weatherspoons pub
The Greyhound Weatherspoons pub is the ideal place for a few cheap drinks after work or at the weekend. As expected it is your typical weatherspoons pub with little atmosphere during the day and only picking up as the evening goes on. Bar staff are very good and you hardly have to queue to get served. There are plently of seating and generally tables are free of empty pint glasses and plates. Food is of standard pub grub quality although can take up to half an hour to arrive. Drink prices are the cheapest in town here generally speaking and as such usually quite full from 7pm onwards.

Change of Management
The Bear is yet another pub in Maidenhead which has recently become a pub restaurant as apposed to a bar which it was typically known to be. Since the change the quality of the food has increased dramatically but subsequently so have the prices. The interior is tastefully decorated and there is plenty of seating outside. Drink prices have remained the same however but be warned another on draft has on the past tasted a little rough. Staff never seem to busy and are very friendly although when busy they tend to be extremely slow and it becomes a nightmare to get served and/or order food.
