This is one of the places to be on a weekend. Now called Mosiac, it is still essentially the same thing as when it was Long Island. It is a bar which tries to be more like a club.

Entrance is completely free and they have relaxed the dress code so you can go in wearing trainers before 11pm.

Once you go in you will see the place is quite big but the dance area is tiny and there is really no point to it due to its size. The music is fairly loud but bearable.

There is a small garden area which gets extremely crowded but is nicely decorated.

Drinks are expensive as you’d expect but considering you didn’t pay anything to get in, it is something you can live with!

Stay Away
Known for being an old mans pub, the whispering moon lives up to this reputation with the average age of the pub probably being well into the fourties.

The problem with this is that these men don’t tend to be very nice and when young women come in then they feel very uncomfortable very quickly.

The pub itself is very ugly. It is pained a blue colour and the inside look about 40 years out of date so the whole place is in need of some work!

The staff are good and due to there rarely being a large queue for the bar, you will normally get served quickly. Due to it being a Weatherspoon’s pub, the drinks are also very cheap.

Its ok...
Located 2 minutes walk from Wallington Station is The John Jackson Pub. This is a fairly modern looking pub but is not know for being the nicest pub in the world in terms of people. I have been in there a few times and there always seem to be people who look like they want to have a fight.

The drinks are quite expensive but the pub is actually quite nice looking and, on a quiet night, is a nice place to be. There is music in the background and they sometimes have a live band I believe.

The staff are quite efficient and are normally quite polite.

O'Neill's
Located 2 minutes walk from Wallington Station is O’Neill’s Irish Pub. Due to its location it doesn’t generally get too busy which means that it is nice if you just want to go out for a quiet drink.

The pub itself is quite big and also has a beer garden which can accommodate quite a few people. They have a couple of TV’s and often show the latest sports in there.

The staff are a bit dull however with one particular member being one of the most miserable people I have seen in a long time. Apparently a smile is just too much like hard work!

The pub attracts a mix of young and old people and the atmosphere is normally quite relaxed.

El Nido
This Spanish restaurant is situated about a minutes walk from the station and is right on the main road but it is very quiet inside.

On this inside, the tables are all fairly small so if there are just two of you, you will certainly feel quite cramped. The food is very good though. They offer a variety of meat and fish dishes but it isn’t what you’d normally see so you get to try something different. They have set meals as well but these are very limited as you’d expect.

Food is all quite expensive however with a meal for 2 costing around £40 including a bottle of wine. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

Another Italian...
Yet another Italian restaurant in Sutton comes in the Shape of Zizzi’s which is a chain. Situated right opposite Pizza Express it offers a similar amount of food but with more of a rustic feel to the restaurant.

Food is quite reasonably priced and the staff are able to take on board any varieties you may wish to have on your pizza. Food is often bought out quick but the wine is pretty poor for the price you pay.

As you’d expect they offer a variety of pizza and pasta dishes which is the kind of thing you’d probably see at most Italian restaurants.

Avoid Nando's
I’m sure everyone has heard of Nando’s. It claims to be a Portuguese restaurant when in fact it is South African. This one is situated right by the station and in the town centre.

Serving a variety of overpriced chicken dishes, this particular restaurant is nothing special. Staff are quite polite but at the same time clearly have barely a brain cell between them as even the simplest task seems like brain surgery to them. Food is not very good either. Numerous time have I had to send my food back as it was either cold or undercooked. Prices are also high and do not reflect the quality of the food.

Mmmm Mama's!
Mama Dumpling’s is one of the best places in Sutton. Offering a wide variety of Chinese meals at very reasonable prices.

Situated very close to Sutton station, Mama Dumplings has an open front (in summer) and has some very nice blue lighting which goes perfectly with the Chinese décor.

Staff are all very friendly and always make an effort to serve the customer to the best of their abilities. Food is normally served quickly even at busy times.

Food prices are very reasonable and they also do a take away service which will get you 10% off your bill. They do not deliver though so you will need to come and pick it up

Stay away from here!
Unfortunately Ricci’s is one of those restaurants which has a lot of promise but does not really deliver. They serve Italian food but it seems like more of a half assed attempt as neither the pizza’s nor the pasta are anything special. I recently went there and had a folded pizza but when I got it it was half burnt and with every cut into it then food would splurt out meaning that the whole meal became a bit of a mess.

Considering this, its prices are very expensive and the wine is also quite expensive for what it is! My advice would be to avoid it and go to somewhere like Pizza Express

Oceana
Oceania is one of the bigger clubs in the local area. It has numerous different rooms and each one plays a different kind of music so you are bound to like one of the rooms. The club itself holds hundreds of people and because of that you are bound to walk into someone that you know and there are even some celebs there sometimes.

Wednesday is student night where you will need an NUS card to get in. If you do get in then be prepared to barely move as it gets really busy and getting around becomes a real pain!

Certainly good fun if you do go but be prepared for a high entrance fee and pricey drinks.
