Not always great
You look forward to fish or whatever and chips here. The marketing sells you a perfect traditional meal. I am mainly talking about the takeaway here,(I used the sit in part some time ago and we had a great meal with family but that was soon after they opened). You get a voucher ticket when you order your food and they call when its done. i have taken the family a couple of times and consistancy is not good, sometimes greasy, varying degrees of cooking on the chips from a bit underdone to well overdone. To be honest the product doesn't meet with expectations of the brand. Need to try harder to be where the hype suggests they are, we have local fish and chip shops that work harder to deliver consistancy.

Quite a large pub in the middle of Godalming. There is a large bar with Large screen TV for sport and a PA etcetera for open mike night. The other bar is more of a snug for a quiet beer. They have a huge dog that sleeps on the chair -watch out for his chewy toys on the floor. I walked into the bar stone cold sober tripping over on and looking like a completed drunken chimp! Anyway, the bar mid week is quite quiet, it looks as though it rocks on the weekend tho. The bar serves a good range of proper beers and the prices were not too bad. I would recommend this place and it does do a lot of live music/sports coverage. Next time in Godalming I'll check it out again and report back.

I think this pub may now have changed name, anyways it's a great place. We ran down ther from Wales for biker night away and had a great time. They have some accomodation at a reasonable price including a super breakfast. We did a bit of gig there and played some music in the bar and had a laff! The beers and food were reasonably priced, bar staff friendly and worked hard to ensure our party went off well. We had a great cooked breakfast in the morning and headed back to wales. A little of the beaten track but near to some moors for a walk. The weather can get pretty cold here off season, we had hailstones that were hard enough to set off car alarms !

Just off the A48 Dual carriageway near Cowbridge is the Downs Cafe, also called Norms by some people. The cafe is very busy on Sundays, if you like motorbikes then this is your place. On a Sunday you will see all sorts of bikes here, Harleys, Japanese, British Classics, BMWs, Trial bikes, they are all here. The food here is the standard breakfast stuff, bacon rolls, full breakfast et cetera. The food is great, the cups of tea and coffee steaming hot. You'll have to queue a bit to get served and you can eat in or outside near your pride and joy. The people here are friendly and you can easily while away an hour or so having a natter about the pro's and cons of twins, triples,boxers or whatever your favourite is. Its a great morning out to take the lad along to have a look at all the bikes. I believe there are good roast dinners on offer as well but I typically stop for a cup of tea or two.

Our favourite for a lunchtime meal whilst shopping in Swansea. Usually absolutely packed peak lunchtime hours,so go jsut before or after lunch time and avoid the queues. Each roll freshly prepared including toasting as you stand in the line. You get quizzed by a line of staff as you are served each completing part of the process, choice of bread, toasted, cheese, double cheese, salad, sauces et cetera. At the end of it you get a custom sandwich to your choice, and normally these taste very good. There are offers for kids meals adding crisps and fizzy drinks. Watch the drinks machines, they are not always topped up with flavouring and you can get a cup of fizzy water, no biggy ask and they'll give you another cup. Best go get the fizzy bottled drinks if you want a brand. Food seems fresh, salads always taste fresh. Fillings pretty good, my favourite is the spicy itallian.
The kids normally go for plain ham and toasted. There is plenty of choice so normally you can keep everyone happy. Price wise, I think its pretty similar to mcdonalds but it feels that bit fresher.

Stayed in Malvern for work a number of times and the Bengal Brasserie was close to the hotels I used to stay. I would typically visit the restaurant early evening and eat alone. I noticed a number of people doing this work, so didnt feel out of place. The food was reasonably priced with a good choice and some unusual dishes offered. I found the service prompt and polite. The window seats are quite good because you can watch everything going on in the street outside. The restuarant sits on the main street so theres normally people out and about. The restaurant itself however is quite quiet early evening and it is quite a big place so take a paper or something to read whilst your food is cooked. I found the food to be well cooked, well prepared and presented well. Good service, drink and food priced not too bad. Would recommend for an early evening meal, not sure how things shape up later in the evenining.

Caspian's, what can I say. This is the traditional late night takeaway, it is located next to the Beach Nightclub formally known as the Apollo. The fayre is typical of this sort of takeaway, Kebabs, Doner and Chicken. They also do fried chicken and all is accompanied with chips. They also serve soft drinks. Prices are not too bad, if I remember correctly its about 3.50 for a doner kebab.I quite like the doner with salad, mint sauce and chilli sauce and a small container of chips. I've eaten there a load of times and to be honest always enjoyed the food. I have to qualify this to say that generally this has been after frequenting a locally hostellry so this view may be somewhat biased! The main problem is how busy it is at club kickout time and it has to be said it can get quite boisterous in there late night/early morning but that said get in a bit early and you'll be fine.

Very family freindly restaurant. Visited on a Saturday night, the staff were very amiable. The decor of the restaurant would best be described as rustic. The restaurant is in some of the last remaining traditional parts of Bridgend. Other areas of Bridgend have had some terrible modernisation and suffered. The fish wasn't boned however when asked, they boned no problem. The service was a little lacking at times, in fact at desert time the waiter had forgotten about us so we didn't get offered one! The price overall was quite high for what we go at about 30.00 per head. The wine list was average and offered some choices. It was standard fayre at a slightly higher price. Overall our party had a good evening, so whilst not a rave recommendation it probably worth a look, particularly for a family night out.

We went to coast as a suprise birthday treat for me. My wife had booked this for me as she had been there on a few girl's nights out and had praised it.

We arrived and were greeted politely by the owner and showm the menu and wine list. A lot of the wines on the list are of the new generation of potency, 14 and 14.5 per cent are common so be careful when ordering.

We selected our meals and the food was delivered efficiently. I have to say the food did not meet the expectation I had from previous descriptions. The menu had seemed a little restricted if you avoided fish, the belly pork was mainly fat, which is a challenge when choosing it I realise. Also, the night we went expecting a quiet romantic evening,also had bookings of large single sex birthday parties which spoilt the mood somewhat. I think I would have to visit again to make a better judgement on the restaurant. The decor is great, it is very clean and I think probably on a better night the ambience could be good. Based on the food on the night I went it is a way down the list before I revisit.

Suprising
The name is not that inspiring, however the experience that awaits you is! The value of the meals when purchased during their frequent offers for two and three courses is outstanding. The food is based upon local welsh produce and cooked extremely well. Service is efficent and serious. The tables are well decorated as are the entire premises. There are some extremely old parts to the inn and there are sections of the old wall exposed with some information. There are also some themed accomodation rooms offered, I've not seen these but if the rest of the experience is anything to go by I am sure these would be great. Ive only dined there lunchtimes recently but would thoroughly recommend, its a little out of the way toward the coast, but certainly worth the trip.
