This station is fine and like many others, it is ideally located as it is a 2 minute walk from the main road which has a very good and frequent bus service. There are taxis which also service this station but you would be fine just getting a bus. The ticket office often has a queue but the station itself is not too big that you can get lost or disorientated. You are also not really allowed on the platform if you don’t have a ticket and they are strict with this so you can’t really say good bye to people on the platform or anything. They have a café thing inside, which is fine but a bit overpriced and there is a more reasonable newsagent thing just outside the station.

This is a great place with a good atmosphere but the drinks can be a little steep compared with the spoons round the corner. They have good promotions though and the food is a great wake me up after a heavy night. They play all the major football matches and is hugely popular for this but if you’re not a fan, try to avoid these nights as you won’t get a seat.
They have things like poker and a pub quiz, which is especially good as they give you free nachos and free shots, and the quiz is free!
You have to buy a VCard though which is £2 and it lets you get cheaper food and drinks – if 1 member of your party has one though you’ll be ok!

Don't bother
Alans fried chicken is a mistake which I think everyone makes once, and will never make again. I hope by reading this you save yourself from a waste of time and money. The food is standard, and what you expect when you go into this style of eatery but the staff are rude and rubbish and tried to short change me and then blame it on myself – not a good start. The food is greasy but sometimes that’s what you need but for the treatment I got I would not go again. A friend also went and some other customers thought he was going to have the last piece of chicken so they threatened to pull a knife on him. I do not blame the Alans chicken staff for this but I blame them for not doing anything and for not asking them to leave when my friend was in obvious distress.

M Two
M Two is flocked to by students on Wednesdays for the athletic union nights out. There are lots of peoplr dressed up and in crazy outfits, but that just adds to the fun! The club is great and it often has lots of special things going on like popcorn cannons. It is always busy and the people are great and always up for a laugh. The music is funky and good to dance to and the drinks aren’t too outrageous which is unusual for city centre Manchester. The vibe here is always good and you know a night out here will be good. Take your student card and have a ball basically!

Tesco..
This tesco is fine, its always busy and full of students. The only thing is that because it only has a small range, and the students flock to it, they often run out of standard things like milk, eggs and bread. They also only seem to sell the more expensive versions and none on the tesco value range items. This is a bit annoying as a student as the groceries are getting more and more expensive. Be aware that you will have to queue to pay but it is open I think 7am till 11pm which is great for when you forget things! They also sell quite a wide range of alcohol and they do have lots of offers and promotions.

Triples for singles! BZR is a great place to start a night out and everyone meets up there. The drinks are great and £3.50 for a triple and mixer of most things which is pretty good in my opinion! The only thing is that you tend to get too drunk by accident because you think you’ve only had a few! Not necessarily a bad thing though! Its always busy in here and the music is great, as is the mini dance floor! The toilets are great and clean but the lady in there can be a bit pushy.. I would deffo recommend it here but they tend to ID everyone so don’t forget to take it!

Oceana
This is the only club I know with its own hotdog stand inside it! I love it here because the people there are awesome, the music is cool and they have a little bit of everything – they even sell mohito in a bottle! The drinks are reasonable but not stupidly cheap and the entry can be pricey if you’re going in late and stuff.
The dancers on the podiums leave a lot to be desired but at least they sort of add to the atmosphere and get people going. It’s always packed in here so close to your friends! The upstairs rooms are great and they have their own bars which is good, it can get a bit cold upstairs though!

A M C Cinema
This cinemas fine, nice central location on Deansgate and unusually you can get discounted car parking. It’s close to the casino and the Hilton and there are lots of arcade games and stuff in the cinema building too.
The promotions for students are good and the films they have are always up to date. It’s never too busy which is great because you hardly ever have to book.
The snacks at the cinema are quite pricey, but you find me a cinema where they aren’t . The seats here are also so cool because the arm rest between the seats lifts up so that you can either take up more room, or have a cuddle with your partner (if that’s what you want!)

5Th Ave Every Night!
A great place to get absolutely hammered. If you go on the right day you can get a really good bargain for a cheap night out. Tuesdays drinks are 80p, Fridays – girls get in free, they have that sort of promotions on all the time, oh, and take your NUS card. It had good sort of popy indie music and its very popular and jam packed with students. Watch out though - because it’s so popular be warned, you will have to queue, especially if it is near the time when its free to get in. The music is good, the atmosphere is awesome the drinks are cheap and the people are good. Totally recommend it for a weekday night out.

I love Lidl
This lidl is great, they alwasy have a large selection of both branded and non-branded items, ranging from groceries, sweets, fruit and veg, drinks, canned foods, frozen ready meals and pizzas, and really good fruit juice. Definitly reccomened it for fresh things and bakery style things like bread! It also sells dairy items but I have never really tried anything from this section.
It's much cheaper and better than the tesco next door BUT - Don't forget to take carrier bags because you have to pay for them! Only about 3p but if you buy a lot of bargains then the amount of bags you need could be lots!
