Innovative design
There are two theatres in the Royal Exchange building. The main theatre is in the centre of the hall as you walk into the building and has been designed to be completely circular and see through (from the outside and in). the stage is in the centre so no matter where you sit, you get a good view. Performances feel very intimate and the impact is amazing.

There is also a very nice cafe/bar, and a very interesting arts & crafts shop.

The building itself has been very impressively restored from the days when it used to be a commodities exchange centre. Just walk in and look up and you'll know what I mean. It's breathtaking.

One of the biggest venues in the world
A couple of years ago (and maybe even now) the M E N arena beat New York's Madison Sq. Gardens to the top concert venue in the world in terms of ticket sales.

Madonna, Kylie, Bowie, Scissor Sisters, you name it .. have performed here.

The venue is spacious, easy to access and the staff are very professional and helpful.

Very popular
I love this restaurant, it's very friendly and the menu is superb. It's great in the summer when you can sit in the veranda area at the back of the restaurant. My only criticism is that the place does get very crowded at weekend evenings but that's the proof of the success I guess...

Impressive architecture
The newly restored and expanded Manchester Art Gallery is one of my favourite cultural venues in the city centre. As well as really impressive permanent exhibitions, there are regular temporary ones too. The location makes it easy to pop in and out whenever you're in the city centre.

Great food, friendly service
One of the local and wider-local area favourites. People drive for miles to come to this little restaurant serving Nepalese and Indian cuisine. Always full but somehow they manage to squeeze you in! Great takeaways too.

One of my favourites
This is a great restaurant for good wholesome Japanese cuisine, at an affordable price and very conveniently located. Great place to stop and have lunch during your shopping expedition. There are two in Manchester centre and my favourite one is the ground floor restaurant in the new RBS Building on Deansgate.

Award winning architecture

One of the best Classical Music in the world
With an impressive all year round program including regular weekly concerts by two of the World's most famous classical orchestras (The Hallé and the BBC Philharmonic) both of which are resident in Manchester.

There are also Jazz and other concerts, as well as Christmas and New Year concerts and the Summer Manchester Proms.

Selfridges Manchester
One of only a handful Selfridges stores outside of London. this one is also nicely located in the heart of Manchester's main city centre shopping area. When you're tired of shopping (even if it's of the window type!) try the sushi bar in the food hall.
