fantastic restaurant - this is the nearest atmosphere you wil get to eating abroad. Lovely family run business.
Food is presented beautifully. Not cheap but quality ingredients. Good wine and service is both prompt and friendly.
What a shame that the family is leaving this place - will it remain as the same restaurant or become something else?
Lots of disspointed people now this will no longer be available. A firm family favourite in Plymouth.

Fairly cheap pub chain food - nothing exciting on menu. Atmosphere fairly boring.

You can eat outside on warmer days.

some good offers on wines/beers.

Busy at weekends as so central. A good place to meet but not somewhere to impress or have a romantic dinner.

Mostly young crowd. I think they now have music whcih is better.

THis used to be a fab pub - great food, generous portions, good sunday roasts etc.

New owners have taken this over and food is now attempting to be haute cuisine/gastro pub but failing.

too expensive, portions too small. bring back the friendly old style food and people.

used to be family friendly with good outdoor play area for children. Now the food is not suitable for children.

for cheap pub grub head down further to the eddystone.

This type of food is not suited to this pub. Shame as was a regular before new onwers took over.

THis place hasn't changed for years. Bouncers on the door, cheap beer and cheap punters.
Expect to be surrounded in here by local marines, navy etc
Located on the infamous Union street in plymouth - not a place you would recommend or want to meet someone in.
Probably more suited to hen nights or stag parties, do not expect to have a wonderful expereince in here. I would be worried about my handbag or purse in a place like this. yuk..there are lots of other nicer places to go in the area. The barbican is much better.

This is not a great pub but ok for locals and meeting people before going somewhere else.

Food is very basic and I wouldn't recommend it.

It could do with a re-vamp!

Not much of an atmosphere. Porbably more suited to older quiet, people.

friendly, great for kids
Recently took my 3 year old here and was surprised by the friendly, welcoming staff. They couldn't do enough for my daughter whcih encouraged her to behave really well!

Views out to the sea are lovely.

Food is basic but fairly cheap. A nice place if you just fancy a sandwich or chips rather than a 3 course meal.

Local sausages were excellent!

Nice if you want to get out of the city and a family friendly pub.

Better midweek
This is our local chinese takeaway and we have noticed a change in the quality of food over the past 2 years. Portions have always been generous and piping hot but we think the quality of meat is not as good and that it tastes of too much MSG. Strangley though if you order midwek you tend to get a better meal. When they are busy at weekeends food tastes re-heated and rushed. We have since switched to the takeaway seven up.

we use this takeaway occasionally and have mixed reviews.

At times we had received excellent dishes, prompty that are stil piping hot and at times we have been dissapointed.

Meals are generous but expensive. menu is as expected. nothing exciting or new.

we had a xmas meal here last year in a large group.

staff were friendly. Food was simple and as expected. nothing extremely exciting but large portions and ok value for money.

a good place for large groups or staff parties.

This is not excellent exciting food but if you are looking for good value, large portions and a lively atmosphere then this is the place. Lends itself well to staff parties or large group bookings.
Not the sort of place to impress anyone or have a romantic dinner but food is ok - you will leave satisfied.
Staff seem friendly and helpful - can be very busy.
