This is a great little place to go on a night out. You won't have to queue or pay to get in and it's in a great location (next to Moshulu, Liquid and fast food places).

There's a good amount of tables and seating, but on the busiest of nights you might find yourself having to stand. The bar could be a little longer, but there's always a lot of staff so you usually get served relatively quickly.

They have a great selection of drinks, the cocktails are great especially, good prices too. The bassment also offers a lot of other entertainment like Karaoke and pool tables, as well as serving food. The music is also more to my taste than most other places in Aberdeen.

The toilets could be a bit better, but other than that it's one of the places I usually go on a night out.

McDonalds Restaurant
Everyone surely knows McDonalds by now and most people will have eaten in one before. This one is in a good location at the heart of Union street, plenty of shops etc. nearby, so it's a good place to stop off for a quick meal.

The store is split into an upper and lower section, with loads of seating. It's always well staffed too with plenty of choice on the menu.

Just like Burger King, McDonalds is great value, quick and fun. You never have to wait too long here before getting served initially and your meal arrives quite quickly after ordering.

One reason I prefer McDonalds over Burger King is the fact that they always have their thick shake machine working!

A good place to eat if you're short on time, or cash.

Moby's Fish and Chip shop
This is an excellent little chipper! You might miss it depending on the route you take because it's just off Union Street, but it's usually where I go after a night out to get some chips and cheese!

The late hours make it an attractive option for those who are heading home after a night out at the weekend and it can get fairly busy at these times, so you might have to queue for a little while.

It has a good selection of fish, chips, pies, puddings etc. as well as drinks. It's also a bit cheaper than most other chippers too.

It may be a bit small at times to deal with the night-crowd, but the staff or always friendly and the food tasty and good value. A great chipper!

Moshulu
As the name suggests, this club is aimed at those into a heavier type of music than the other clubs in Aberdeen.

It's in a good location, with plenty of other pubs/clubs as well as food outlets close by. You never really have to queue to get in either, but there is an entrance fee.

The place looks fairly small from the outside, but it's quite a deep club, with separate sections. There's plenty of barspace and large dancefloors. The toilets upstairs are a decent size and clean.

They also have themed nights quite often. Make sure you know whats on before you go, because the last time I went I didn't really like it, the music was completely different from what you'd expect and it was also more expensive to get in.

I don't know if its just me, but the last few times I've gone it seems to be heading in a more 'mainstream' direction both musically and with the types of people that go.

A decent club, hopefully it doesn't change too much in the future.

PIzza Hut (Union Street)
Another pizza hut restaurant, but this one is more conveniently placed for those who are shopping or using public transport, being on Union street, just outside the train station.

I usually visit the Pizza Hut at the beach, but came to this outlet about 6 weeks ago due to transport problems in getting to the beach.

You get the same menu here, and the same excellent buffet option (about £7 for all you can eat pizza and free refills on soft drinks). However, this place doesn't live up to the experience you get at the beach.

First of all, the decor looks like something from the 80s, it seriously doesn't look like the place has been decorated in years and years. This seems especially strange when you consider that the one at the beach has recently undergone refurbishment.

Also, it's not as well-staffed, it took quite a bit longer here to get initially served and for our drinks refills to come too.

The pizza was still great tasting though and with the same great value, but it doesn't really live up to it's beach side equivalent.

Pizza Hut
This pizza hut at the beach is definitely my favourite fast food restaurant.

It's in a great location with all the other amenities available at the beach, it's always clean, well staffed with friendly, helpful people too.

What makes it so great is the buffet lunch available during the week (I think Friday may be excluded). All you can eat pizza, and free refills on your soft drinks all for only about £7. It's good that they now give you the choice of a pizza only buffet instead of pizza/salad and other things, since it makes it cheaper.

The pizzas are always great tasting, with a good variety and they are constantly refreshed when they run out. The staff also do a good job of making sure you are filled up on your drinks too.

The only problem is when you go during the school holidays, when the place is much busier, you quite often have to wait for a table and the pizzas go quite fast at those times!

That apart, this is great value for money pizza joint and it's recently undergone refurbishment too, making it look even nicer. Top stuff.

Vue Cinema
This is without a doubt my favourite cinema in Aberdeen.

It's not as large, nor in as good a location as Cineworld at the beach but the prices and special offers are much better at Vue.

Tickets are still almost £7 on most nights, but Tuesdays are the best thing about this place. All day, the price for a ticket is just £4.25. You also get a special voucher for money off your next visit too.

The queues at Vue also tend to be shorter too, it's not quite as busy as Cineworld. The overall facilities are probably not quite as good as as Cineworld, but the prices/offers make Vue better for me.

The staff are friendly and the toilets clean, so Vue gets my vote.

This is a great supermarket, especially for those on a budget. It's particularly handy for me, being just 5 minutes walk from my flat.

There is a small car park outside for those who drive and plenty of trolleys outside too.

It obviously can't compare with the bigger supermarkets size wise, but it has just about everything you need for a weekly shop. Fruit and veg, bread, milk, frozen ready meals, jars of sauces, fresh meat, soups, biscuits and sweets, crisps, alcohol, cheese, juices as well as non food products like toilet roll, toothpaste and washing detergent.

The prices of nearly everything are excellent, the cheapest supermarket I've been in. The cheap things also do taste nice too though!

There are usually at least 2 tills going, but the place is often quite busy, so you might be queueing for a few minutes, but it's not too bad. The staff are always nice, friendly and chatty. There is also a bonus card system and free delivery on orders over £25.

I guess it's not really a place for wealthier/snobbier type people, but it's perfect for me! A great supermarket.

Hass's Chipper
This is a great little chipper, a favourite of my mates when they come round to my flat since it's so close.

It's a nice looking shop, clean, with nice, friendly staff there to serve you.

They have an extensive menu which is clearly available to read on the back wall with the pricing etc. Plenty of fish, pies, puddings etc. they also serve cold drinks too.

There are usually at least 1 or 2 other people there, so you know the place is good quality. There are usually at least 2 or 3 staff on, so you get served quite quickly and the prices are good too.

Definitely my first choice if I fancy a nice chippy! Just a shame that it's not open very late hours at the weekend.

Eagle May Chinese takeaway
This small chinese takeaway is located on Hardgate, the road that runs parallel to Holburn Street. The location is particularly relevant to me, since it's about 2 minutes walk from my flat!

However, in all the time I've lived here, I've only used Eagle May once. We phoned up and left our order and said we'd be there to collect it. They told us to come round in about 10-15minutes and our food would be ready.

We arrived and our food was indeed ready for us. The shop is nice looking and the staff were friendly. Sadly however, the food wasn't really up to the standard that I would have hoped.

I had chicken fried rice and chips. Although the portions were nice and large, the taste wasn't great. I had to pour quite a lot of my own soy sauce onto the chicken fried rice and the chips were just awful, soggy and not very nice at all.

It could have just been an off day in their kitchen, but there are plenty of alternatives so I wouldn't use them again.
