Disney's Lion King - the theatrical musical journey of Simba the Lion and his clan through the plains of Serengeti - a real life wildlife park in Tanzania - is breath taking to say the least. The sets, the characters, the costumes, the singing, the music - it is simply amazing. The Lyceum Theatre has got this show on. If you are in London, and looking for some theatre to go to - do not miss this. While the good seats tend to be expensive, you may get lucky and get a good last minute deal, on the day, from "tkts" booths outside some of the train stations in London.

Southend on Sea in Essex is a great place to visit on a nice Summer's day. You can get to it from A12 going towards Essex. Not only it is a beach area with a lot of history, it has the longest Pier. The Pier has facilities for the walking enthusiasts and also two mono-rails that will take you to and from the start to the end of the Pier. This beach gets very busy during nice summer days - so get there early if you are planning to go. This is where you can also go to watch the Red Arrows doing their air stunts. The dates are usually well publicised on national newspapers. It is a perfect beach holiday without having to spend a fortune while also doing your bit for the environment by not flying!

Swaminarayan Temple
Neasden Temple is a place of worship for Swaminarayans. For non-believers it has become one of most fascinating tourist attraction of London. It is near Neasden in London, hence commonly known as Neasden Temple. Anyone is allowed to visit the Temple provided they follow a few rules while in the Temple. The entrance is free and I have found it to be a very serene and calmness emitting place - when sitting in the temple. Some of the observations one should consider if planning a visit there are that shows must be removed in designated areas, shorts are not allowed and neither are skirts that are above knee high. You will be pleasantly surprised at the World leaders who have visited the Temple while in London.

Jain Temple
The Jain Centre in Leicester is a place of worship for Jains. For non-Jains, it is a stunning piece of marble architecture. It is the first place in the Western World having temples housing the consecrated images; the main image is that of Bhagwan Shantinath, the 16th tirthankara of Jains. It has Swetambar temple, Digambar temple, Sthanakwasi Upashraya, Guru mandeer, Shrimad Rajchandra mandeer, a museum, library, an auditorium, a dining hall and other facilities. It has become a vibrant place of worship for Jains not only in Leicester, but also in the United Kingdom, and a place of pilgrimage for the Jains world over.

Thrilling Fun
Thorpe Park is one of Europe's most thrilling attraction parks. It has lots of rides, for all ages. I took my 5 year old and my 7 year old to this attraction during their summer holidays. Luckily for us, we had chosen one of the sunny days this summer. The park is one of many under in Merlin group of attractions and it is a full day out. In addition to rides and places to eat, it has a man made beach area. What fun this is when the weather permits? The kids will absolutely love to splash in water and enjoy the water slides and artificial waves. While the tickets are a tad expensive, I think you do get your money's worth. Do not forget those swim costumes as you will get wet if you go anywhere near the beach.

Are they real, Are they not
The famous Madame Tussaud's is a wax museum in London. Nearest Underground station is Baker Street. It is a museum where you can meet the wax lookalike of celebrities and famous personalities - from The Royal Family, Presidents past and present and Sports personalities to famous musicians, Hollywood actors and also Bollywood actors. They are painstakingly made to look very much like their real selves. It is a perfect place to get pictures with these stars. For the historians in you, it has a history of Madame Tussaud and how the museum came into being. There is also a very good train ride showing how London has changed over the years. I do feel that the tickets are very expensive - but then what isn't in London these days!

Tallest building
If you are looking for something to do around London, I would recommend Canary Wharf area. The easiest way to get there is via Docklands Light Railway (which in itself is fun to ride - for kids) or Jubilee line on the Underground. Both stations are called Canary Wharf. Once you get there, you could either walk around the area and see how tall buildings occupied by Investment Banks are cropping up, or do a pub-crawl. Of course, there are two shopping centers for the shopaholics among you. However, the best I like is sitting idly around the fountain and then walking towards the tall Barclays building to get to the park which has a huge TV screen showing current in thing to view.

Simply Breath Taking
London Eye, the largest ferris observation wheel in the world, is one unique experience. You can get to it from Westminster Underground station. The scenery, first on foot, that is even before you have bought the tickets, include Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, the hustle and bustle of River Thames. Once you have bought your tickets, it is figuring out whether the wheel is actually turning today! I mean it is not obvious as it goes really slowly. While the attraction costs a lot of money for a family of four, we have an annual Merlin attractions pass which covers Thorpe Park, Legoland, London Aquarium, London Eye, Chessington World of Adventures, etc - so we are trying to make the most of it. I would say these 30 minutes would allow you to see more of London than an entire day on foot - weather permitting of course!

Adventures galore
I took my kids and my wife to Chessington World of Adventures in Leatherhead. The park has rides, a zoo and also a newly added sea life centre. I feel that this is a good day out for the whole family. We were lucky to go on a weekday, so the queues were not as bad as I have heard before. While the attraction costs a lot of money for a family of four, we have an annual Merlin attractions pass which covers Thorpe Park, Legoland, London Aquarium, London Eye, Chessington World of Adventures, etc - so we are trying to make the most of it. I would thoroughly recommend this place. The one ride you must not miss is the Log Flume - just brilliant fun on a sunny day.

Fun Fun Fun
My wife and I took our 5 and 7 year olds to Legoland in Windsor. What a treat this was for the kids. They were absolutely lost for words, from the initial entry to the park, right through the various rides on offer and finally the mini cities made out of Lego. I was under the impression that Legoland is for kids of this age bracket. However, they truly cater for older children as well. There are some really fantastic/scary rides on offer too for the adventurous among you. I would say the entrance tickets are expensive - especially when you consider paying for a family of four. However, I would say definitely take your kids there at least once. The smiles on their faces is worth the money.
