Chinese to go
Tham's is a Chinese Takeaway, situated in the middle of Dingwall. It has been on the go for a few years now and is very popular amongst locals. It is in a handy location if you want to pick up your meal - as many people do on their way home at weekends, particularly after a football match. It is very busy most Saturdays between five and six pm as the football ends. It also offers home delivery for a small fee for those who just want to call down for their meal. It is a clean and friendly place, with the staff always willing to help with any queries. The menu is wide, with everything you would expect to see in a Chinese Takeaway. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of food on offer. Tham's also does some lunchtime specials, which attracts many students from the nearby High School during their lunch hour. These specials are very good value and can be eaten (weather permitting) in the park which is about a two minute walk - it makes for a pleasant experience when the sun is shining.

High quality food
This small restaurant is situated just outside Dingwall, perhaps a five minute drive. It is worth getting to though, as the food is of a high standard. It is a restaurant and bar, although the bar does not take away from the dining experience - you would not even notice it's there. There is also a separate dining area too, so you do not even have to be in view of the bar for those who prefer it a bit more quiet. The prices are very reasonable for this type of formal restaurant, and the food is delicious. There is a wide range of different meals, mainly your typical Scottish fare of fish, chicken, steak, and such like. There are vegetarian offers too though. There are also some tasty desserts to shoose from. The staff are friendly and it retains its old fashioned charm whilst still appearing modern. Highly recommended.

Fast food
As the only American-type fast food place in Dingwall, it is your best bet of you fancy a burger and chips or something similar. It is a small, narrow restaurant, although there are still a reasonable number of tables and chairs. It is situated right in the middle of Dingwall High Street and so is very easy to find for any visitors to the town. The staff are reasonably friendly, although sometimes quite rushed, and the food is normally of a high standard. The one thing i will say though is that the portions are quite small considering the price, and the price is slightly more expensive than you would expect to pay at most other burger fast food joints. However, if this is the type of quick, easy and informal meal you are looking for, Wimpy is your best bet in Dingwall.

Chicken delight
Kentucky Fried Chicken is a well known American fast food joint, and is famous for its fried chicken, as the name suggests. This particular branch is situated in the food court of Princes Mall in Edinburgh, which is in a very good location. It is across the road from the main shopping area in Edinburgh, next door to the train station, and about five minutes from the Royal Mile tourist attractions. When you walk out of it, you can see Edinburgh Castle. This restaurant does not have its own specific seating area, but there are communal tables and chairs for people who eat at any of the food stands. KFC is one of the best choices for its delicious tasting chicken - and there is a huge variety of different kinds to choose from. I'm on a popcorn chicken craving just now, but am also a big fan of the normal chicken legs and breast. The fries are also of a high standard - although typical of any other fast food joint. It is recommended.

Best fish and chips around
Harry Ramsden's has a very good repuation for producing delicious fish and chips, and the branch in Edinburgh does not let it down. Actually, I'm not sure if "branch" is the right word for it - it is more just a takeaway stand in the food court of Princes Mall, and is alongside other outfits such as KFC and sandwich places. There is a communal seating area for all these places though, so you do get the dining experience. The fish and chips here is absolutely delicious - the batter on the fish is light, crispy, and done to perfection. The fish itself is quite large and good value for money. The chips are also done to perfection and I personally have yet to taste better fish and chips than those produced by Harry Ramsden's. It is a shame it does not have its own restaurant in Edinburgh where you can go to for the full restaurant experience, but this is a very good substitute. It is also very well situated, next to the train station and across the road from Princes Street shopping area. This also makes it only a five minute walk from the Royal Mile and all the main tourist attractions.

Coffee delight
Costa Coffee, as the name suggests, is a Coffee Shop which is world famous. There are many banches in Edinburgh, although this one is arguably in the best location for visitors to the city. It is very central - close to the main shopping area of Princes Street, and also to the main tourist attractions, such as Edinburgh Castle and the other places of interest on the Royal Mile. Therefore, it is convenient for a sit down and a bit of relaxation in what is otherwise a very busy city. The branch is often busy, but the staff are always polite and helpful. It is clean and comfortable. There is a wide range of coffee and other drinks, as well as sandwiches and snacks. It is the perfect place to sit down and unwind for half an hour or so, before carrying on with your day.

Young and fun
TGI Fridays is highly recommended for a good night out. It is in a good location in the middle of Edinburgh, perfect for the many students who go to university, but also for visitors to the city from far and wide. The food is reasonably expensive, but I would consider it worth it as it is delicious. There is a wide range and definitely something for everyone, although it is more typical of an American fast food joint than a 5 star restaurant. This is not means as a critcism though, as i have really enjoyed everything i've eaten there. There are also a wide range of cocktails, which highlights the type of people which are attracted to the restaurant. It is also clean and the staff are friendly. The only problem is that it can be busy at times, as with anywhere in Edinburgh.

Delicious
As a student, this restaurant is highly recommended. For a very reasonable fixed price (especially at lunchtimes), you get a buffet dinner where you can eat whatever you want from the wide range. They have a huge selection of chinese food, from sweet and sour chicken to various types of curry, and also ice cream for dessert. For all the food on offer, the value is exceptional. It will not be for everyone of course, but it is one of my favourites. This branch is situated just outside the main entrance to Waverley Station, which is very convenient. It is also about a five minute walk from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle, and just across the road from Princes Street and all the shops. The location is perfect, the food is delicious, and it is clean and cheap. What more could you want?

Coffee lovers
Starbucks is clearly one of the most well known and popular places to go to for a nice, relaxing cup of coffee or any other drink. Its brand is known around the world, making it an easily recognisable destination. This particular branch looks small from the outside, although that is because you have to go upstairs to get to the main serving area. Even then, the branch isn't the biggest you will ever see, but is nice and cosy, and comfortable. There is a lovely view out the window, and it is clean and tidy. There is a very wide range of drinks and beverages, as well as snacks and sandwiches. It is a lovely place to go to in order to sit, relax and unwind after a hectic time at work or a busy afternoon's shopping. Situated very centrally, it is very convenient for everyone. However, it can sometimes get too busy, meaning queues to get served, and some evil looks when you just want to sit and read the newspaper with your cup of coffee. All in all though, it is recommended.

Nice and handy
This branch of Subway is very central in Edinburgh, just off Princes Street. The location is one of the best things going for it - it's very close to the main shopping area, the main train station, the bus station, and many, many offices. Therefore, it is very convenient to pop in there at lunchtimes and grab a sandwich if you're at work, or also if you're just out doing a bit of shopping. There are limited seats, but with Princes Street Gardens just across the road, you can take your sandwich and sit on one of the numerous benches which look right onto Edinburgh Castle. It is highly recommended, although watch out for the tepramental Scottish weather! The food is delicious and the idea of custom making my sandwich appeals to me entirely, which is why I like Subway. The only downside to this branch is that it gets incredibly busy at leak times, such as lunch. I suppose that's what you get for being in such a perfect location!
