this pub is good for sports. the beer is good too, not exceptional but ok. we go in for the big sports tv's and so it can get a bit loud in there if it isn't your sort of thing so mainly for the young crowd, or avoid if a match is on!

aside from that there is basic pub food, nothing special. the atmosphere is good in there though as its mainly locals so there is always someone you know. there is a good carvery though on a sunday which is worth going in for. its a basic kinda pub but its great!

this place is great as it has all the beers i love from all over the world. just start at one end of the bar and work your way across!

its not too loud here so good for having a laugh and a chat, it is a bit old fashioned but you can forgive it that for having decent beer on tap.

the food is quiet good and we often eat here, ive had to complain about the food a few times but it seems to be getting better. generally my food has been overcooked but my mates are always ok! but im still giving it five stars for the beer!

ok so i probably shouldn't slate the local tourist attractions, but being local i eventually found myself in the Jorvik centre. this is supposed to be a trip back in time on a ride through a viking village! however all the dummies looked like they were straight out of BHS's window and the sets could have been made to look more realistic by my 3 year old neice! you go on a suspended ride through the 'village' which in all honestly is more histerical than anything and the smell down there is bizzare. i honestly left there feeling robbed, but also laughing so not all was lost. but i wouldn't want other people to waste money too. if you go in as a family it works out expensive, save your money, its not worth it!

I love this cinema, not only does it have the latest releases but there is always something a little less mainstream, something that didnt go on general release. its also really nice to see a proper city centre cinema tucked away behind the shops, rather than these awful out of town car parks we get these days. there is also a really cool bar at the back, well on the river front which is really trendy with a funky central round bar. There is a small terrace at the back too so you can overlook the river. i'm not an avid cinema goer so i can't comment on the sound/picture quality but i've always thought it to be very good and there have never been any glitches.

this is a great juice bar, its actually funky too, i love the name and it makes juice and health seem a bit more fun. i've felt like i was being dragged here by the girlfriend the first time but the juices where actually great and it made it easy for a bloke like me to drink lots of healthly things with no effort. when you work out how much fruit has gone into each drink they aren't actually too expensive and there is a great choice from bizzare green juices to the more conventional orange ones. its a great addition to york and i like the fact that its a one off and not part of a chain. pop in and give it a go.

well im not normally a fan of starbucks, but i do like the fact they sometimes buy old buildings to put the coffee shops in, and this is a really good building. This is a beautiful old bank and its really cool to sit here and drink your chocca mocca vanilla latte chino grande! the location is great to so if you've been in the screen to see an offbeat movie this is the place to get a coffee afterwards. I also think this starbucks hasnt intruded too much on yorks esthetics, its not intrusive. its the usual menu of coffee and snacks, the staff here are good though and its friendly.

You don't go to this place to get drunk, you go if you are ALREADY drunk. or dont go at all! haha. i've spent many a night here though and its what you would expect from a northern kinda of nightclub, its full of drunk people, drunk groups of blokes on stag dos and girls on hen nights and then just your generic drunk people. if they changed the door policy to only let sober people in the place would be empty. my strongest memory of this place is the first time i went, i met alot of people in the queue (it was at capacity!) and they were all drunk already. ive seen some scenes there though, the doormen trying to sort the drunks out etc. i dont know if its this place or if all clubs are the same these days, but i wouldnt go in there without my good mates.

thw willow is an upstairs restuarant, one of those that if you could see inside before you went you wouldn't go in. the decor is cheap and the floors creaky. once up there we were too embarrased to leave and at least were lucky enough to get a window seat (we were the only customers though!). on this particular day they didn't have a menu but just a buffet. this was ok, there was a large selection of food, it wasn't outstanding quality but then again it wasn't expensive. alot of the dishes tasted the same, its probably why we were the only people in the restaurant. the worst part was when it came to dessert and the offerings were fruit cocktail and tip top! we haven't been back, there are alot better restaurants close by in york, avoid!

excellent italian restaurant, it has the hustle and bustle of a real italian, its very busy and crowded(because the food is good) and lively. the atmosphere is exciting and the smell of the food will get you in the mood for an italian even if you werent in the first place (is that possible). Paradiso has the best pizzas, the base sauces are incredible and the base crisp and well baked. The service here is rapid and the pizzas stone oven baked and authentic. ive always had really good service here, they always remember me and are attentive and friendly.

ok so yes it is a chain, but the pianos are normally quite good and this is no exception. add to that the brilliant location, its right on the river so it its sunny you can go out on the deck and sit outside and chill, if its cool then sit inside by the ceiling high windows and watch the river from there. The food is as per the chain gastro and good. It really is a nice place though and popular for works nights out. The food is very good and the service is good too, even if there is a problem they sort it out very quickly. its a fun trendy place, the interior is very modern and cool so its popular with the younger crowd.
