The Alhamdra used to be a good, if somewhat random Spanish tapas restaurant. It's no longer open and there's now a burger bar and fish and chip shop where it used to be.

There's not a lot you can say about a chain joint - they've each got a three-ring-binder telling them what to do. Frankie and Benny's is locked in a 1950's New York timewarp, with Frank Sinatra on the speakers and booths along the walls. The food is good - one of the few places around Ilford that will serve a rare steak rare. The restaurant gets busy over the weekend, but during the week it's a nice, relatively quiet spot to grab a bite to eat.
