My favourite Chinese takeay in Newton Abbot. They take telephone orders, which I usually do and then walk down to collect it, as it usually only takes 15 minutes to cook - and I know they cook it from fresh because I often make adjustments to their regular menu (eg Fried Rice without the egg, Chow Mein without Beansprouts).
The staff they employ to take orders are really good too, and the Cheung family who have owned it for many many years are really nice and friendly.
The cost of a meal has remained very reasonable, and portions are very generous. We only need to buy two main meals (and accompaniments) and they are enough to feed our family of four.
Altogether a huge recommendation for this local Chinese takeaway!

I give it 5 stars because it has become a real home from home for me! The staff are all very helpful and polite, and if ever there's a problem with a meal that comes out they are happy to sort it out for you. This has happened so rarely to me but I have witnessed other customers having complaints resolved from time to time, usually something not too huge like bread not coming out with an order of fish and chips.
The Thai Noodle Salad is delicious and one of the most healthy meals in the place, having said that the Vegetarian breakfast is really delicious and hearty. The meat eater's Traditional Breakfast is, I'm told, very nice too. We like to order a round of toast to share with ours.
The building itself caters well for disabled people and I know people who have had need to use them. The staff at the bar will give you a key to the door, which you return - the door is just to the left of the bar itself. The ladies' toilets upstairs are - to quote some children who I overheard whilst in there this week "really posh!" lol - always clean and checked every half hour.

Great value meals
The Pizza Café has long been a favourite since it opened in the late 1980's, in fact it is where my (now) husband and I had our first date all those years ago! The decor is simple yet refreshing, the place is always clean and the service with a smile.
They cater well for Vegetarians (like me) and children, and they offer pasta meals, pizzas and salads, along with mexican style starters, chicken wings and potato skins. Even though the ice cream is not my favourite type (they use ordinary yellow vanilla from a tub) it goes perfectly with their sundaes and they also offer other flavours - just not the white whipped stuff from a machine.
I recommend booking a table in advance if you want a decent table, as they can be quite busy most evenings! The premises are not large so when busy the restaurant is not too overwhelming nor too noisy I have found.
