Yummy soups - weird location
I go to Nincomsoup frighteningly often for lunchtime soup. The location, right in the middle of the grime of the underpass serving Old Street tube, is not the best. But once you get inside, you can forget where you are.

They always have three vegetarian soups available, and some of these are vegan. They change every couple of days: I particularly like the tomato and mozerella soup and the spicier ones. I can't speak for the meat and fish soups, but they always have three options for carnivores as well.

They also have fresh cornbread every day. The only negative is that the plain brown bread is a bit weird.

I love Mildreds.

All too often as a vegetarian you have a limited choice on menus, but here you are really spoiled for choice. I'm not vegan, but can't resist dipping into that side of the menu too. It's all delicious.

The place can get busy some evenings and on the weekend and the service could be a little faster, but it's a great little building and the staff are really friendly.

Best of all is the private room upstairs that they don't really advertise very well. It's free to book - just give them a call. I've eaten up there a few times now and you get a very personal service and if you have a group of ten or more get to sit around a massive table. Oh and there is framed Victorian pornography on the walls!

A great place to take meat-eating friends to prove that there should be more on offer than veggie burgers!
