the outside of this indian will put you off, the building is far too 1960's and it doesnt look like a traditional indian when you get in there. the service i am sorry to say was slow and we were often ignored. however there is alot of choice on the menu and the food itself seemed to be authentic and well prepared. it was very spicy and presented very well. this isnt my favourite indian but it is relaxing with reasonable prices and decent food. they did in the end throw the starters in for free after keeping us waiting for so long, so perhaps it isn't always that slow.

i didn't like this place and haven't been back. it trys to hard, the name is awful for a start and its limited to cocktails, so no beer if you are the only one in the group in the mood for it. its far too trendy and it doesn't pull it off, its just trying too hard and full of people that are just posing. the music was ok but in the end it started to get on my nerves, all a bit too tuneless bop bop for me. then a group of guys that had more cocktails than they could take had to be thrown out by the bouncers. its not a classy cocktail joint.

Grinch, is one of very few Jazz based wine bars, well on a saturday at least. I'm no Jazz expert but its the one thing I miss since moving from london to manchester. The Grinch Wine Bar goes some way to make this up, it is a great building to start with, part of the old chambers and its lovely. the atmosphere is vibrant and its really lively most nights. especially during 5-7 as this is happy hour with lots of good deals on. its popular for after works drinks but also with some regulars that come back time and again for the chicken and the saturday jazz ! The outside seating is really nice on a hot summers night.

this is one of my favourite places when I find myself in the northern quarter. this is a nice cosy bar with booth style seating and a relaxed and chilled out atmosphere. the range of beers is great, they aren't expensive when you consider they are premium belguim beers either. i've always god served really quicky in here even when its busy! the beer is always very cold and it reminds me of the bars abroad more than the uk kind of pubs. i've never seen any trouble here even when its packed at the weekends, one of my favourite hang outs.

This is a small friendly greek and italian restaurant, we particulary love the tapas. because this place is so small it can get very busy so go along early to get a table. there are often offers on the food so its best to ask what the deals are when you arrive. if you are lucky enough to get in here at the weekend there is often live music on and it makes the place a very vibrant and exciting place to be. the prices are very reasonable and we tend to have an average 4 of 5 tapas dishes a head and including drinks we spend under 25 pounds per head. the food and service is great and you will want to come back!

Loaf is one of the most trendy bars in manchester. its is under one of the arches near deansgate locks, near the comedy store. This is a really big place, with two bars and a restaurant also. It used to be really difficult to get into but isn't so bad these days. ie it used to be full up to the rafters! its everything you would expect from a posh trendy bar and the nightclub is in the basememt. The restaurant has good food, it isn't cheap but means you are already in the venue when you want to hit the bar afterwards. this is a well known venue so you have to try it!

i'm giving this place 5 stars for quirky! it used to be a public toilet, one of those underground ones (from many years ago) so you can imagine how small it is! if you don't like small spaces you won't like it, my friend had to leave as she felt trapped! its nicely done out though and is something of a institution in manchester. its very popular with bands - for them to drink rather than play! There is also a great selection of beers and ales. if you take the quirky out if it it isn't brilliant, but there is nowhere else like it so you have to go even if its just once.

I've only been in the cocktail bar here, although the food menu looks good if a little pricey. If you have some money to burn and want a posh manhatten then this is the place to go for it. ok so the decor is a little over the top but it has a relaxed feel to it and its nice to go somewhere that is part of a 5 star hotel. (its in the radisson). there is a big wine list too but we stuck to the cocktails. They are strong and expensive though so go easy. it goes without saying that you will get dressed up to go here!

we all know wetherspoons is good value on the food and beer and this place has the usual menu. its also an interesting building which is often the case with wetherspoons. the beer and wine here is as good as any of their branches and you can certianly have a few drinks without it costing a fortune and the location on deansgate is great for the start of an evening. i would strongly avoid going here for food though. there are many many better places nearby to choose from. i have eaten here 3 times but never again. each time the service has been terrible, very slow and offhand. i've had dry sandwiches and overcooked food that have been inedible and the staff just grunt when you tell then you couldn't eat it, handing them a plate with ALL the food on for them to clear away. no apology or offer of your money back.

this is one mad building! its an old style pub, small low building covered in green tiles! its very near the rainbar and the bridgewater hall and we often pop in for one drink on the way elsewhere. its small inside so gets full quickly. its not a posh place and really is an old pub in the more working man sense. there is a pool table and a couple of tables and thats it. the beer isn't the best but we like it because its totally different. it isn't your posh trendy bar so if that is your thing give it a miss.
