Firstly it is worth mentioning that the music policy at Jakes bar and grill is almost exclusively indie music. However on a weekend it fills up quickly and can get a good atmosphere. Watch out for people bumping into you though, but don't worry too much because people are reasonably friendly.

Also a word of warning, do not arrange for this place to be meeting place on an evening as late changes of venue or friends unfamiliar with Leeds will not be able to get in contact with you due to the subterranean nature of this establishment leading to it being a mobile phone reception blackspot.

I have been to Room twice, once on a business engagement and the other time in a personal capacity.

The interior is well decorated, with a private bar available downstairs for hire. When this was hired out it was good as there was plenty of seating so socialising could take place with client contacts before a meal.

However as I have alluded to in the title, portion size on the food was something that I picked up on. Now this may just be due myself having a large appetite at the time but I felt that the portion size was far too low, especially when the price of the menu was taken into account.

Other than that I found Room to be enjoyable and would recommend

Rather like a Jekyll and Hyde, Oracle has two sides to it in my opinion.

The good side is on a summers evening, preferably on a Friday after you have finished work. Oracle is ideally placed to catch the sun and has a riverside sitting. There is also ample seating outside, so the evening can be whiled away watching a few barges go past. The above analysis also applies during the day on a weekend.

However I have a different opinion where Saturday night event are concerned. This is perhaps due to my personal preferences but I find the scene a little bit too pretentious, and don't like the type of crowd that goes there. Too much cash being flashed if you ask me.

So get yourself along after work on a Friday and everything will be fine!

I have been across the pennines to sankeys on two occasions. I really enjoyed both times that I have been.

I think Sankeys is in a good location, being out of the city centre which in my opinion helps avoid drunken passers by coming in the club and spoiling the stmosphere. The club then makes the most of its industrial base as an ex soap factory with good use of poles and innovative lighting.

There is also an upstairs white room which plays different music to the basement below depending on the night.

The two nights I went had world class disc jockeys playing and looking at the line ups that the club has booked it seems that most weeks you are guaranteed a star attraction.

As can be seen from the photo, Est Est Est is underneath an ugly post modern nineteen seventies style building. This detracts from the glass facade that would otherwise work well.

The glass facade works best on a lunchtime, with a view over a semi pedestrian area where city workers mill about and walk for their lunches.

The food is good quality, although in my mind it is approximatlely ten percent more than it should be.

The staff are helpful, and I would conclude by recommending Est Est Est as somewhere to go on a lunchtime, but look to other places on an evening.

Fibre is certainly one of the finest bars in leeds. The crowd are always well dressed in the latest gear, and the music is firmly funky house with a dash of electro.

Recommended as a pre club bar if you are going somewhere that is a house night. Drinks are reasonably priced. There are also afterparties that take place here at the weekend, look out for posters to find out!

On a weekend be prepared to queue and also dress appropriately, stripey jumpers et al will not be allowed in!!

Also please go there with an open mind as this place is unique, so bad attitudes should be left at the door.

I have been to this place once so far and I really enjoyed it.

Can't comment on the table wait time as others have as we had booked. All 3 courses were good and well made. The meat in particular was of a good standard, which given some of my experiences in less reputable restaurants.

Location is also good on Greek Street, although you would be best advised to leave the car away from this area. This is firstly due to lack of parking in the vicinity, as well as the fact that especially on a weekend there can be a lot of people out drinking in the nearby bars. It would be a shame for them to "fall" into your car!

Set down a street in the legal office area of Leeds this restaurant is away from some of the hustle and bustle of other busier streets.

The place is tastefully decorated. The menu has plenty of options and the food is always presented well, with the vegetables being cooked just right, no boiling soft here.

Naturally all this comes at a price so it can be quite expensive, but for a more relaxed, quieter venue, this would be recommended. As the place is small it may be worth booking a table so that you dont get dissappointed if there is no table available.

Sorry to hear about the other reviewers experience. In the dozen or so times I've been to Bibis I've not seen anything of that description so can only assume it was a one off occurence.

I can understand how it could have happened though, as the staff seem to take things quite seriously there.

The decor is great in Bibis, location is good (although being underneath a multistorey is sort of weird).

The menu has plenty of variety, every dish I have had there I have fully enjoyed. Definitely has a very business focus to it, I have only been twice on a personal visit. Recommended if you haven't been.

Normans is okay really in my books, some of the gripes people have with it are perhaps some of the factors that make it the place it is.

Decor of the bar with the glass front sits well. There is also a good range of lagers, I especially appreciated the imported Mahou from Spain. You can probably expect to pay another twenty to fifty pence more for your drink than in other places.

Main gripe is that there have been a couple of occasions where there have been leaving parties for people from my work. The door staff can be overzealous about letting in "groups" of people. Therefore everyone should get on their 16 year old act of going up in pairs to the door!
