I love Chicken!
Nandos is a great place in my opinion. It offers me what I love most (and that's chicken) as well as the food often being mildly spicy. I'm not a fan of very spicy food, it just takes all taste and flavour away from what every you're eating and in my opinion, this makes it a waste of money. I don't think Nandos do much which i would describe as "too spicy" luckily and so that's why I'm so fond of their food. Their prices aren't too bad and the staff are more than helpful. I've only been a handful of times but I intend to go a lot more often.

What’s in a name?
When the guys who came up with this place were coming up with a name, they knew exactly what to call it. As Roy Walker from Catchphrase would tell you, “Say what you see”. These guys seen that they had made the best kebab money can buy and so they named the place the “New Best Kebab”. They aren’t lying. Yes, you’ll feel 5 times fatter after eating it but you already know that. The kebabs are mouth wateringly good and really are, at least in my opinion, the best around. Don’t go elsewhere, go here for your daily, deadly dose of calories. It’s also very clean.

It has been many years since I was last in The Marsden Inn, located in South Shields. My uncle was the last to take me about 8 years ago. I loved the place back then and if it hasn’t changed, I’d love it now. There is an elevator which goes straight through the rock of the cliff on which the pub resides, which was always fun as a child. They serve some good food and the fish and chips are particularly nice, as you might expect from a coastal town. There’s a whole variety of drinks on offer which are all priced reasonably well. I do recommend this place if you’re passing.

My first experience with KFC was in Barcelona. The place was a bit dirty, the food was cold and, to top it off, a tramp from the street came in, asked us in broken English to leave her some when we were finished and spat while she spoke, all over our food. Her arm was oozing something and she was clearly on drugs. As you can imagine, this somewhat tarnished my view of KFC. Luckily I gave it another shot recently, this time back home in good old blighty. No tramps asking for my meal was a huge bonus. This place was very clean and service was fast. I still think you don’t get enough for your buck at any KFC though.

Good, sometimes.
I find that The Head of Steam is like Marmite. You either love it or you hate it. They often have live bands playing which is a definite up side to the place. The down side is that I just don’t like the place. I get no enjoyment from being in the building and there’s nothing much to excite me. The drinks can be way too over priced and I’ve seen a few unfriendly members of staff here. Still, maybe it’s for you but it just isn’t for me. There’s a hundred other places I’d rather be apart from on special occasions. And believe me, those occasions are rare.

Everyone knows the reputation behind the Hilton hotel chain. Yes, it’s pricy, yes it’s pretentious but let’s face it, you didn’t expect any less. This particular hotel is located right on the banks of the river Tyne on the Gateshead side. It overlooks the awe inspiring city of Newcastle Upon Tyne and has a great view of the iconic Tyne Bridge. If you’re staying up in the Newcastle or Gateshead area any time soon, have some cash to splash and want a great hotel to stay in the the Hilton is for you. Sadly for us men, Paris is not included. What a shame.

Mood is what I can only describe as distinctly average when it comes to reviewing a bar. I’m not a massive fan of the music that often gets played here, the crowd doesn’t know whether it’s old or young and the drinks are a bit pricy. Interestingly, the toilet area is unisex. The toilets themselves aren’t but the sinks and mirrors are shared. This is the only thing that really makes the place stand out in my mind. Mood is located in The Gate which is a great place for a meal I thin but I just don’t thinks its great for bars. I wouldn’t recommend the place.

Portofino is a place which I am very fond of. It is somewhere which I have eaten in since I was around 10 years old. Of course, when I first ate at Portofino, it was located elsewhere in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The fact that (many years ago now) it moved location has not had a bad effect on the place. The pizzas there are expertly made and are possibly my favourite this side of Italy. It has now been quite some time that I was last here but I intend to go back very soon for the food and for the memories. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

This, I’m afraid to say, is just like any other McDonalds restaurant. There’s nothing to make it stand out at all other than its handy location for some. It isn’t really an easy place to get to at all if you don’t own a car. This may be a benefit to you but to me personally, as a non-driver, it makes this place a little too inaccessible. I can’t comment on the interior of the place too much as a result because I’ve rarely if ever been in. I have been in a car with others and used it for the drive-through however. Service is quick and I’ve had no wrong orders yet.

big luke? Big customer!
If you like eating so much food that you hurt and all for a fraction of what you’d normally pay for a full meal then look no further my greedy, glutinous friend. Big Lukes is at hand to supply you with a gut busting quantity of food. I’m not having a go, I enjoy going to big lukes on occasion. You can get their buffet which means you pay one price and eat as much as you want. You also get as many free refills on your drinks as you like. Not a bad deal I think. Self service is what you get here so I cant comment on the staff.
