Cracking good sandwiches!
I was with a friend looking for somewhere in whitstable which was relaxed and sold fairly simple food for lunch and this fits the bill perfectly!

We did queue for a bit to get served but as it was during a festival in town this was to be expected and was pretty reasonable considering. I ordered a roast chicken and salad sandwich and my friend a sausage one. We had soft drinks so cannot comment on the tea or coffee quality unfortunately.

The place was very busy so we took the last 2 seats which were at the top of the stairs perched on stools and the food came fairly quickly. The quality of the food was excellent and these guys really know how to make a sandwich. Mine was top quality chicken which was still warm with very fresh salad ingredients and great bread. The sausages in my friend's was a good butchers quality too.

I will definately return here when I visit again and next time I will save room for some cake too!

Whats wrong with an old fashioned tea room?
This place is very different to anything else in the area and a mix of the art from the gallery across the courtyard and the chintzy Laura Ashley-esq designs on the tablecloths means it has a bit of an identity crisis.

Fortunately the staff are always very attentive and the food is good quality. Most items are made on site or provided by local suppliers and the range is usually very good.

This would appeal to the traditionalists as you get rolls before your main meal with butter curls, fresh veg with your meals and lovely condiments. There are different desserts bought in fresh each day and are displayed in a cold cabinet by the till.

I would highly recommend the jacket potatoes which are baked in a special oven and the quiches which change daily. Give the place a try and you might be surprised!

Perfect pies
These guy have been in business for years and is family run (only the family knows the secret recipes). A tiny shop with a huge array of pies to choose from and I always eat too many!

I wish I could visit here more often but with an awkward location and normally closing around 2pm (though this may have changed since my last visit)the shop is not very convenient.

Anyone for a classic meat and bean pasty?

Flatbread to die for!
This is somewhere that appeals to virtually everyone, amano serve very "fast" food and are yet very healthy with a wide choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The produce is always very fresh with a dazzling array of options available. The flatbreads are beautiful and made in the ovens before your very eyes. You can create your own or be inspired by the menu of classic combinations.

Amano has yet to disappoint and offers good value for money in an area which generally serves below average food at above average prices.

The only downside is there are never enough spaces in the seating area!
