You get value for money food at greggs which is always good because you can buy snacks without spending all your money.
The staff seem to all be women and they seem friendly and do their job well. It does look hectic to work there!
The place does get busy at around dinner time with work people and the small layout can sometimes be a problem because the area gets congested with a queue into greggs.
The location is right in the centre so it is easy to access and their is outdoor public benches outside.
Greggs is usually very clean and their food is usually good for money snacks.

Nice little venue
This is a nice little venue with a bar downstairs. It looks much cleaner and classier than rock city. The outdoor part with the overhead lights looks great and it is nice in summer. The back drop of the outdoor part would look terrible without the lights, so someone is very clever.
The venue has great sound and isn't too big or too small. The bands that play there are usually smaller bands anyway and so they attract less crowds. The bars are priced reasonably and the staff are nice and friendly.
I would recommend students to this venue because it plays live music which would appeal to them.

Amazing bands
This venue is pretty big and is one of the UK's major venues. A lot of world class bands visit this venue on their tours and so it is good to check who is playing every now and again. The sound is good in both the main hall and basement.
It is always good that if you ask nicely the bar staff will give you free cups of ice cold water. This is great especially when it is packed full of people and its very hot.
The stereotypical security guys are very intimidating and are very unfriendly although i suppose that isn't their job. The place is not spotless but it doesn't matter in the dark anyway.
Overall this is a great place if you are into bands or club nights with alternative music.

Everything stocked
This is a brilliant record store. It stocks almost every genre and niche. There are two floors. First floor is CDs and the second is for vinyl.
If you are looking for something specific this is the place to go! They seem to have all the new releases and old releases. The prices are better than all the other high street music stores such as HMV and the staff are helpful.
A visit to selectadisc can also widen your musical taste as you go around looking for things, you find interesting CDs that are appealing and the descriptions; hand written on the front on stickers are great. They give a good description of what type of music it is an help you to choose.
Definitely recommended if you like any type of music.

This place is huge yet still ALWAYS crowded. I think it is what used to be a bank and so the ceiling is very high up and the place looks magnificent and has touches like real bookshelves etc.
As i have said, the place is always busy and this is what lets it down. The bar is busy and to get food also. The food does come quick though which is ok. The food is average and what you would expect in any wetherspoons pub really.
If this place were a little more quiet and relaxed then it would be much better but there seems to be a lot of drunks hanging around inside and out ALL the time.

Geek inside
Ok, so this isn't the biggest forbidden planet but it is still pretty big and it stocks almost anything geeky. It has games, magazines, comics, action figures, posters, dvd and anime. This is great and is one of the best shops of it's kind in the area. The staff are usually into all the 'geeky' stuff and so they usually understand what you're talking about. The prices for things vary and sometimes you can find things cheaper in there than a game shop whereas other times you can get DVDs cheaper elsewhere.
It's a fun little shop and you can spend a while in there looking at all the cool stuff, great if your into this kind of thing.

The staff are friendly even though they are all teens. The place is quite small but i am very happy that subway came to Alfreton because people prefer subway to greggs and other fast food shops and bakeries because it is healthy. The selection is quite big to choose from and although it is expensive for 'a sandwich' you won't regret paying for it when you eat it.
The alfreton store is clean but doesn't have much seating which isn't that much of a problem if it isn't raining because you can go and eat in the town centre on a bench or something.

Vintage is the way forward
There seems to be a lot of vintage stores popping up around the country which are like expensive charity shops but with cool clothes.
There is a huge variety in Wild which is in Hockley, Nottingham and a smaller variety in the sister store Wilder. They both stock great new and vintage clothing which is great for that 'indie' look. They also sell unusual clothing and accessories from yesteryear. I was looking everywhere for some button braces for trousers and i found so nice ones in here, i was so happy!
Some of the clothing is quite pricey for what it is but you just have to pick out bargains before the hipsters get it!

If you live in alfreton, you will have heard of this takeaway for their bargain food. All i can say really is that it isn't that great...
I had some chips from there once and they were still frozen, recently i thought i might try it again and i bought a donner kebab. It was ok, just they put everything into a tray and expected me to put it all together. Once again, it's just an average dodgey takeaway that sells hit and miss food.
If you are desperate for food then by all means go but i wouldn't go out of your way for some food from there.

Great staff!
The staff in this store are superb! They are all very friendly and helpful if you are looking for something in particular. The store has two floors which on the ground floor there is general style and the second floor is footwear and formal clothing. I went there for a suit and the main suit fitter was extremely helpful, told me what looked good, what was cheap and tips on maintenance of the product. He was so good i recommended my friend and he also visited and gave the same review. If you are looking for high street fashion then this shop is a must.
