Lovely location, ok food.
One of the nicest located bars in Belfast, strange decor inside, doesn't seem to add up somehow, strange mix of stone, leather sofas and neon lights, most odd. Very mixed crowd, relaxed atmosphere. Food downstairs and up, ate downstairs last week. Fairly usual menu, gougons, lasagne etc. Upstairs is more a la carte. Companion had chowder which he found strange = 'Vegetable soup with salmon' as he described it. I had lasagne which was perfectly fine. Not perhaps a place for a celebration meal but somewhere for a bite with nice views of the lagan. Would be a good place for a quick meal and a few drinks with a group.

Worth a look, good location.
Eaten here quite a few times as it's so handily situated in Botanic. Eating area is just beside/part of the bar so the ambience is not exactly relaxing. Avoid if you want a quiet meal, the music was blaring the last time I was in but then maybe that's what you're looking for. Nice menu that does vary, reasonable prices, food nicely presented. Service can vary, I've waited and waited on occasion. Popular bar that can get very busy, some live music, went to a good jazz evening once. Good place to have a meal and a few drinks in a group. Great location for going on somewhere too.

Ideal place for a quick lunch in city centre
Slightly tucked away because (surprise!) it's in a basement, this bar is right in the city centre beside the city hall. Location could hardly be bettered as it's so close to the main streets and the new Victoria centre. Been in several times, never too busy. Food served at the back, tasty, fairly run of the mill food, nothing too adventurous but if you like burgers, topped wedges, paninis etc you'll be glad you came. I had jerk chicken wedges which was disappointingly bland, I thought it'd be spicy but the wedges were satisfyingly thick and crisp. Good value, service is good, no overpowering music thankfully.

Give it a try.
Slightly out of the way, I always get the feeling this building doesn't take advantage of the view it has over the water. Been a couple of times recently, first time I ordered a burger and this tower of food arrived, I was a little embarrassed! Try only if very hungry indeed! Second time I got pork belly and there was a mix up with the dishes which took some time to sort out. It was sorted and a couple of sides taken off the bill which was fair. Nice place, never busy when I've been in. Nice menu, pleasant atmosphere, well worth the trek to get to it, go perhaps before or after going to the Waterfront hall.

Great location, so so attitude.

I haven't been to Conor's for quite a while after being put off by the rude and pushy staff that were inflicted on the public the last time I was there. It had been quite a favourite of mine for a long time. I recall a particularly good Sunday lunch there that has stayed clearly in my memory. Interesting building, full of nice pictures by Blackshaw or Shawcross, I always get them mixed up. Hopefully the attitude I came across the last time I went in has gone as the food was always nice if a little overpriced for what it was. Conor's could be a gem.

Needs some attention.
Have been to Ruby's several times when it was in its old location. Called in to the newer premises and was not impressed. The menu is fine, lots of choice but downstairs is cramped and we were shown to a table and the walls and table were grubby and marked with food.... off putting when you feel peckish to say the least. Tables are very close together too so theres little room to move or have a private conversation. All in all I'd say I wouldn't run back, the problems are easily rectified, a couple of fewer tables and a wet cloth to those walls!

King of the castle.
Went for a meal at Christmas, the cellar is atmsopheric and yet not stuffy or too formal. The food is excellent, good menu, perhaps not too unusual but you're sure of something pleasant. Waiting staff are very efficent, the atmosphere was relaxed and conducive to a good evening. I've been to the restaurant upstairs before on a Sunday and the Cellar is by far the better of the two places. Nice touch having the antique shop near the entrance so you can have a poke around before or after the meal. Well worth a visit, enjoy the surroundings while there, I must visit again.

A classic Belfast bar
Beautifully restored by the National Trust, the Crown is a living legend, a place to marvel at. Rather like stepping back in time, this is the genuine article that so many bars try to look like. Dark wood, incredible attention to detail in the carvings, gaslamps, stained glass, mosaics and all genuine to boot. A favourite with tourists sipping a half of Guinness as well as locals having a yarn. A must visit, and the Guinness is fine. Food served during the day, booths are like gold dust but you may get lucky. Busy and all the better for it, a nice place for a leisurely pint and no rubbish music blaring over everything, a real bonus.

Nice place, try it.
Called in for a coffee, coffee was very nice indeed! Some places can be hit and miss for coffee but this was a hit. Nice bright place, sunshine floods in through big windows, papers and internet availible which is always handy while waiting for someone. Sandwiches and pastries can be bought or made up at the counter. Staff are perfectly pleasant and efficent. It would be easy to walk past as it is at a busy junction and right at the end of the street. Nice and bright, certainly worth a visit, not very busy, nice place to sit and read the paper and have a snack.

Not quite a Zen experience

Went here to celebrate holidays off work! Very dark interior, looks very like a niteclub, fake plants and neon lights, front door propped open by huge slab of wood...odd.

Food was very pleasant but expensive, service was good, just a few people when we went. It is tucked away in a part of town that is very quiet at night.

We decided to stay on for cocktails, they were very dear for Belfast! Around £7 a pop, but nice (They'd have to be!)

There are much nicer places for a comparable meal, it has quite a cold atmosphere but could be worth a try, other people I know have loved it. Perhaps it's not just for me.
