Three cheers for The Avenue. The Kkolos family have been running The Avenue for quite a few years. We go there for coffee at least once a week and always enjoy it. It is proper European coffee too, and all the better for that. The Avenue is a happy, warm, bustling place with a very cosmopolitan feel, modern looking, and there are seats outside, if ever we get any fine weather! They do delicious cakes, paninis and salady stuff too. It's right by Welsh Back and it is very convenient if you work in the Redcliffe or Castle Park areas.

This is one of those fake pubs you are supposed to go to when you have small children. The food is prepared centrally and warmed up in the on site kitchen. Consequently the serving staff have very little idea of what they are serving. Also, it is very hard if not impossible to get anything varied e.g. without gravy. If you have unruly children and have given up hope of ever taking them anywhere decent, this is the place for you. They will also put your drink in a plastic glass to take into the soft play area. The noise levels in both places are ear-splitting.

Brilliant Beeses!
Beeses is a Bristol tradition. It has been there since the 1850's! Come on one of the many boat trips from town, or you can walk along the River Avon to Conham Vale and Pa Beese will come and get you in a little boat. This has always been a special place, but it has now been refitted and looks just wonderful. They have real ale and live music, a regular quiz, barbecues, functions and, perhaps best of all, they really do do cream teas. This very special place was listed in the BBC's 50 things to do before you die.

Teoh’s is great if you are looking for a place with authentic food and a brilliant atmosphere. They serve a range of Pan-Asian dishes from China, Japan and Malaysia. It's s lovely place to go with a group of people and to share each others meals. This restaurant is also a good place to take children.
Not to forget there is a Chinese supermarket next door where you can pick up noodles, fortune cookies and many other strange and wonderful things. The photo above shows the Chinese supermarket, the restaurant is the red building off to the right, and the yellow building next to that.

Fantastic
The Dragon Court is a great big Chinese buffet restaurant. The food is plentiful and good. This venue is popular with office nights out and big family gatherings. It's ideal for after the cinema or the pool, as it is part of the growing Aspects Leisure Centre in Longwell Green, and there's plenty of parking too. What we particularly like about this buffet is that you can go up and serve yourself. As it is self service you can have as much or as little as you like. This is really useful if you have small children with you or you just want to try a little bit.

Great Nightlife in Kingswood
Bar Celona is an excellent restaurant offering Spanish, Italian and Greek food. How good is that? What a brilliant idea! The food is great quality, and there's something for everyone, from pizza to calamaris. We have taken our elderly granny as well as young children. The sleek modern decor is also very attractive and makes a great change in East Bristol, where restaurants tend to be more traditional. The Spanish tapas are really great, we specially like the king prawns wrapped in Spanish ham and the paella croquettes. There is live music on a Sunday night and Soul Train on the first Thursday of the month. They have just split the bar and restaurant into two neighbouring venues to make a night out in Kingswood complete.
