nice old pub
This is a lovely old pub right on the edge of Southampton Common and on the Avenue. The building itself is very nice, and the interior is typical of old pubs, full of beams etc. The pub is now run as a chain, and the food is therefore typical of this chain. It is OK, probably slightly above average pub grub but then the prices are to suit. Roasts are pretty good on the weekend. It is popular with families most days of the week, as well as students from the university or the institute. Definitely worth going to for a typical pub meal.

good old pub
This is a classic old pub and is a lovely place to go for a meal or a drink. It has a large selection of ales and beers, many from the local area such as Ringwood. The food is above average pub grub for this area and they do a mean roast on a sunday. Also recommended is the crown burger. It is conveniently located close to the university so is popular with students and university staff as well as those who live in the highfield area. One of the better places to go around highfield. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly.

champagne!
This bar is situated opposite Parsons Green station, making it a most tempting choice on the way back from work or on the way back from a meal. There is a good choice of champagnes, and the house bottle is reasonably priced and perfectly drinkable and is a pleasant start to or end of a night. The bar has a slightly different feel to most champagne bars, being full of chunky wood tables and chairs etc. The crowd is usually friendly types typical of this area. I go far to regularly really, but it is a great little place to have.

sloaney pony
This is the one and only White Horse, otherwise known as the sloaney pony. It is situated right on Parsons Green making it very popular place in the evenings particularly during the weekends. There is a very nice large area outside the front which is ideal for warm summer evenings and is very popular during this time of the year. The pub itself is a pleasant place to sit and quaff on an excellent selection of real ales and beers. The type of people are, as the nickname suggests, typical of the fulham area. The nearest tube is Parsons Green. Great place for a catch up with a friend.

This is a very popular place in Balham. There is a bar area downstairs and then typically a place upstairs with a few small bars and club/music area. It is often very busy and can be quite difficult to get a drink. The kind of people in their can be a bit unfriendly but generally OK. It is a good place to go if you want to stay in one place all night, from bar drinking to a bit of dancing late doors. I dont think this place is that special really but it is popular and has a busy atmosphere.

serves snakebite
A lot of my friends go here once in a while to reminisce on being a student and drink that filthy concoction known as snakebite and black - lager, cider and blackcurrant, which is guaranteed to give you a massive hangover if drunk in sufficient quantity. It has a sort of saloon/ wild west feel to it. Although upstairs is a bit more pleasant/ classy and quite a nice place to get a load of friends together as it is spacious. Drinks prices are standard Clapham prices, not excessive. It is usually quite busy on the weekends with the typical graduate/young professionals that are typically found in Clapham.

good fish and chips
This is a great place to go for a nice plate of fish and chips. The restaurant is very light and airy and a pleasant place to eat. The fish and chips is excellent. Also very good is the steak burger with parfait of foie gras. I have not had the fish cakes have also had good reports of these. The price is slightly above average pub food but not too bad for this area and this type of restaurant and is overall OK value. There is a nice patio area outside the front to eat which is very nice when the sun is out.

This is a fairly standard pub on the kings road, nothing special really when there are loads of other places to chose from around here. OK if you are looking for a predictable pub chain feel, but it does not offer much else really. Serves all the normal type of beers, lagers and pub snacks. Quite light and spacious but not a massive amount of atmosphere unless it is very busy, although I have only seen it busy once or twice at the right times. Pretty obviously placed so not a bad place to meet someone who does not know where they are going, I often use it for this.

The club is pretty small but is quite a lot of fun if you are pretty boozed or intend on getting pretty boozed. This is a well known 'club' around this area and is full of fairly young kensington/chelsea/fulham types. The place is carpeted which adds to the aroma that you notice as you walk in. One nice thing about this place is that you can get away with doing just about anything! The drinks are averagely priced, maybe quite a lot for the type of place but seems as everyone there is drinking quite a lot it will not be a cheap night. Has a DJ and a very small mirrored dancefloor.

Well Crazy Larry's is well known throughout the area. The type of people there are usually quite young (18-25ish) possibly younger sometimes! Entry is £10 which is not horrendous. It is usually a good time but varies depending on the night. Not necessarily the best place around if you are looking for a quieter night to catch up with some friends, but good fun if you are keen on having a few drinks. Drinks are typical London prices and can leave you a bit short the next day if you drink enough! The music is pretty cheesy. Worth going to but nothing special.
