It's a Wetherspoons, you get exactly what you expect.

It's big, always busy, the food is average but extremely well priced, the service for both food and drink is very poor. There's usually a good range of locally brewed ales.

It's a good pub to sit down and have a drink in the daytime, though they've brought in big screens showing non-stop Sky Sports (or Big Brother) - even with the sound off it distracts a little.

A lot of people tend to start their nights out here, so Friday/Saturday will see this place a bit overcrowded, though there's no music, so conversation is still easy.

Stays open quite late now, if that's your thing.

Heaven and Hell was a club with three floors of supposedly different music (dance, r'n'b, probably something quite cheesy).

Since Blackburn is a bit lacking in good nightlife, this place once held a bit of a monopoly over the young folk of the town, hence overcharging for entry, overcharging for drinks, getting away with having a bit of a dingy, violent atmosphere, playing the same awful music week in week out.

But now it's shut down, and the mantle passes to Liquid/Envy, which one would expect to end up just the same, but which turns out to be a rather enjoyable place to go. So go there instead, if you have to.

On match days after Blackburn Rovers play this bar will be stuffed full of season ticket holders celebrating yet another victory, or more likely drowning their sorrows.

Expect standing room only unless you're very early, a great difficulty getting served, and a range of quite expensive drinks.

Despite that there is a fantastic atmosphere after most games with large groups of friends meeting up, especially after the last game of the season when the festivities extend much longer into the night.

Unless they close early. Again.
