KOKO for Rock, KOKO for hard house! KOKO fun
I love Koko. I love the fact it's an old theatre. I love the brilliant nights ranging from nights where the Horrors open and then the mood turns cheesey later, to hard house DJ nights with Lisa pinup. I had my birthday party there one year and 40 of us took over the upper bar area.

I also love the fact you can meet men that look like women, people who are totally on it and hard rockers. Everyone goes to KOKO.

nice concept but a little too cool for school
Zero Degrees is based around the very cool concept of being built around a real brewery, which you can see. So the ale is very special and drinking really feels like an event. However, we turned up pretty late for a meal and while they didn't turn us away like a few other places, they were very distracted and almost a little rude. Downstairs was very noisy so we opted for upstairs which looked pretty tatty.

I'd definitely give this place another go, not on the weekend though, and not so late at night.

Friendly local-filled cosy pub
The Princess of Wales has to be one of the best places to get a pint on a sunny day in Blackheath. The pub usually spills out the door and often onto the heath itself like a mini festival. But it's also a great pub to go to on a Friday night for a spot of good honest grub. I can report that the steak and ale pie with mash is a delight. And the cottage pie is pretty good too (although my boyfriend says it doesn't match mine). I only knock a star off my rating because service can be very slow and there is a strangely haphazard arrangement of chairs, sofas and tables which sometimes put you off eating there.

Attentive Turkish
Kazan City is a very up market Turkish restaurant with prices to match. However we found a special deal and ended up paying £25 per head, with wine on top. The wine, a rioja, was gorgeous and full of rich flavour and the food didn't disappoint either. The staff were very polite and attentive. Before we ordered we were given bread, olives and humus and then a bowl of lentil soup on the house. We started with a selection of cold meze for 3. Accidentally they made it for 4, but before we could worry they told us we would only pay for 3. By the main course we were already stuffed and only my male friend Greg managed to finish. I had the Sultan's favourite Casserole with lamb on a bed of aubergene mash. The lamb was tender and beautifully flavoured.

But I always judge a restaurant equally on it's toilets. Kazan City's are beautiful and smell of incense.

A lovely night in all. Would have been very expensive if we had not got 50% off.

Valentines day
This restaurant made a very beautiful Valentines day experience. The tables are set far apart, very unusual for Valentines day service which added privacy and romance. The setting is gorgeous with little box hedges and trees and a glass roof. The food was good, but not great. It was a set menu and oysters and caviar to start was simply cold, slimy and salty. After that it got better and the melting chocolate desert was delicious. It was nice to wait for our taxi in the hall of the stately house too.

Greasy spoon classic
Maggies lured us in mainly because Lewisham Tesco doesn't have a cafe. We couldn't get in it was so packed at first so they sat us outside under an awning while the rain poured. Tea and juice quickly arrived and then we were seated inside. You can have all day breakfast here all day, and it costs £4.50 for a choice of however many things you want from 20 items. Tea and toast are constantly replenished. When the food comes there is no guarantee it will be exactly what you've asked for, but there will be lots of it and Maggie flits around working her Irish charm so it doesn't really matter. Recommended if you are in a relaxed mood.

Reliably good food
I love the Anakali. We go so often they know us in there. The food is always of a high quality and every dish I've tried tastes good. The place looks clean and modern and has been thoughtfully decorated with interesting textures. Service is punctual but varies in the amount of smiles you get. If you get the grumpy older waiter there's no chance. The younger guys are lovely. Totally recommended.

Rockin out old stylie
The Adam and Eve is a remarkable pub in it's scariness. Its on a dogy part of high street and looks rough. Get over that and its actually very friendly. The local crowd are middle aged rockers and there are some great local bands to be seen here. I go and watch an old school rock band called "Trembling Knees" who have a huge following in the Adam and Eve. The crowd are loud and very drunk generally. The bar staff are slightly goth. Go on give it a try.

Digging the Vibe
Vibe bar is the perfect place to spend a couple of hours drinking beer on a sunny day. There is a large outside seating area with traditional pub garden tables. Being on Brick lane there is often some kind of street entertainment to enjoy and even a tasty pie stand which mean you don't even have to leave to eat. I recommend the Heidi pie with mash and mushy peas with a bit o' gravy. Nice. The atmosphere is very relaxing.
Inside there is a different atmosphere, with a rock club feel. There are often live bands and the place never seems too busy. It aint posh, but it me nicely.

Romance and surrealism
This restaurant was both the most surreal and the coolest restaurant I have ever been to. i went for valentines day which is also my birthday and it was the perfect venue. It was a while ago and i can't remember exactly what I ate but it was nice. i remembr thinking the food wasn't as good as the decor but that was so stunning i didn't care. The walls were projected with movig images and there were pink partitioning structures and cute little white chairs. i felt very very special just sitting there. The toilets are the best though. The cubicals are giant eggs and as you sit on the loo barn yard noises make you feel like a chicken about to hatch in some strange dream. After the meal i was presented with a little liberty's bag with a bar of liberty's soap. Very cute. It was also expensive. But I wasn't paying and my boyfried seemed very happy to.
