I do feel the need to stick up for The Phoenix. I work round the corner from here and it's a great place for a pub lunch. Food is consistently good quality, reasonable and always a good selection. I would recommend.

Great location, shame about the restaurant
Situated in the new development of More London close to the London assembly building this is a great location especially if you work in the area.

Having visited the Gaucho restaurants before I expected a reasonably high standard but, on arrival, staff couldn't find my reservation then everything we ordered on the wine list was unavailable. Food was ok but I wouldn't rush back at £70 a head.

We've been going to Il Bordello for years. The food is consistently excellent - only go if you have a big appetite. Service is usually great though I can understand reviewers who say their waiter was stroppy(!). Can be noisey when crowded so not a place for an intimate dinner a deux on a busy Saturday night but great location and fab food more than make up for this.

Probably the best 'gastropub' in the area. Great food (some slightly pricey) in a really pleasant village setting. Great for an intimate evening or a family Sunday lunch.

Highly recommended.

Probably the best restaurant in the area
Small, family run restaurant offering excellent food and drink. Slightly pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. The chef is creative and there's always a wonderful menu. I would highly recommend.

Lovely relaxed restaurant
Great restaurant just off the High Street in Epping. Small but with a good atmosphere. The food is usually excellent and reasonably priced. Service can be a bit haphazard and we've had to send a few things back becauase they were cold (or in the case of a bottle of beer, warm!). Overall though I would recommend for an evening out. Probably best not to take young children.

Tries to be TGI Fridays but fails miserably
Best avoided - food is very mediocre but not cheap. Most food is frozen as opposed to freshly prepared and is usually full of rowdy teenagers.
