My main impression of Oriel was that it was rather crowded and noisy. Our table for two was squeezed in a row of others. The food is a little expensive but decent. Basically, a very Parisian experience (coming from one who lives in Paris...!)

A group of us tried this over New Year's weekend. The dishes were delicious - both classic comfort food and more international dishes. Service was fast and friendly. There are several different levels and areas and the atmosphere is pretty special.

American cuisine in Monaco's port. The outdoor tables have a great view. The waitress was very honest, recommending some dishes but not others. Apparently you can often spot celebrities there too.

How can you beat the feel of sand under your feet, the sound of waves and the taste of fresh seafood?
Very romantic dining with your own private table on the sand, complete with candles and torches.
A huge crab even strolled by as we ate.
I imagine it would be just as much fun in the daytime, though the beach is used for bathing and diving then.

Admittedly I have strange tastes, but this museum turned out to be worth it. It is underground, in the air-raid shelter of a Nazi-era anti-aircraft tower. They have scenes depicting various types of torture through the ages, with explanatory panels in German and English. I guarantee it will make your skin crawl.

I lived across the street from this Turkish restaurant in Cambridge and the mouth-watering smells of grilled meat and vegetables made me want to eat there every night. Delicious dishes and Turkish coffee so strong your spoon will stand up in it.
Very popular, they have two dinner seatings, make sure you reserve (+44 (0) 1223 500005).

Fun colourful Mexican restaurant in Basel
Large lively Mexican restaurant, friendly service, lethal margaritas, with colourful Mexican rugs decorating the walls.
The only thing missing the night we visited was live music - but perhaps they have that on other days.
Great venue for large group meals.
They also do take-out and catering.
5-minute walk from Basel's main train station and easily accessible from several tram lines.
