Great Place to Visit - Expensive Though
Edinburgh Castle stands in the centre of Edinburgh and can be seen from Princes Street. Access is through a courtyard/ parking area at the top of the Royal Mile.
The Castle can be very busy during the Edinburgh Festival season and call also work out very expensive but keep your eye out in the press at a few times a year access in free to the public on Historic Scotland Open days.
The castle has something for everyone but remember to wear comfortable shoes.
The old jail has a few mock rooms made and and you can go into some of the rooms, there are the dungeons areas. There is also a new area which shoes where prisoners of war were held and has authentic hammocks, furniture, sound effects etc.
The war museum was enjoyed buy the adults but kids quickly got bored.
Don't forget to a=have a peek at the crown jewels and the great hall.

Avoid the eateries as better to wait and go to Princes St or the Royal Mile for a bite to eat as they are very much overpriced.

Great for Little Ones
Mollys is based on the top floor of the Ocean Terminal Building in the Leith area of Edinburgh.
Entry is via gate and there is plenty for children to do.
Large slides, wall climbing, ball pit to name a few of the activites.
Coffee shop is within Mollys.
Great for kids parties.

Great Cinema
Based on the top floor of the Ocean Terminal building this cinema is in a great position. Easy free and plentiful parking.
Seating in the cinema is very comfortable, seats are large and there is plently off legroom.
Food court is available however prices are v expensive better to bring you own. Cheaper prices tickets all day Tuesday.

Clarks
Based in Cameron Toll Shopping Centre.

This is quite a small branch of clarks, selling mens, womans and childrens shoes. Always busy and sometimes seems quite understaffed in the childrens department. Store is clean, staff pleasant and mostly service with a smile.

Good But Be Prepared for a Queue
My daughter was looking for Lelli Kelli shoes and Russell & Bromley were one of the few stockists in Edinburgh.
The childrens department in one flight up and stocks start-rite, converse, lelli kelli, crocs to name a few brands.
There is a ticket queue system in operation and the store is always quite busy.
Staff are very polite and helpful even though they seem run of there feet.

Okay but not the Best
Visited here as my daughter had seen her friends MCDonalds toy and wanted one. Stopped to get her a happy meal which is something we do not usually so as we are vegetarian and they have NEVER offered a veggie kids meal.
Asked for happy meal chips, carrot sticks, drink. Advised Carrot sticks although on the menu are never stocked as no one orders them!! Not impressed - offered 2 portions of chips instead, asked for fruit bag - again not stocked - would avoid.

Nice Little Pool
Based on Portobello prom, Portobello Swim Centre has been there for as long as I can remember.
Inside the centre are two pools, one small pool which was be hired for parties etc and the larger pool which is more commonly used for swim sessions.
The changing rooms were not split between men and woman any more which I found slightly unnerving when visiting with my 2 daughters. Prefer if the had been seperate. The changing rooms were also quite dirty lots of clumps of hair etc on the floor.

The pool however is never really busy and kept clean.

Great for Little Ones
Clambers is based within the Royal Commonwealth Pool Building.
It has recently been revamped and is looking great.

Suitable for kids from 18 months to 10 years. Adults can go into the soft play with toddlers.

You pay at reception and are given a ticket. The child then gets signed in and the soft play etc if within a gated area. My daughter loves the large slide although this has recently been closed due to repair needs.
Great for parties or for some fun time for the kids,

Fun for Kids
Leith Waterworld is run by Edinburgh Leisure and is based in the Leith area of Edinburgh which can be easily reached from the town centre. There is a wave pool, river rapids, 2 flumes, shallow area, bubble beds etc. Great if you are looking forward to enjoying water activities not suited if you are looking to just go for a swim.

Simply The Best
What can I say about Lucas Ice Cream. The best in the world. The cafe looks basic but with ice cream like theres - who cares. From the knickerbocker glory to Chocolate Nut Sundae there is something for everyone from the todler to a great gran. Great place to visit for a treat with the family. Once you visit you will be back.
