I can see what they’re trying to do but they’re overlooking simple things. I was obviously the first person to sit at my seat at lunchtime, but there was still food on it from the previous night. The menus are printed on card and quick frankly, dirty!

The place has been done out beautifully and there is no sign of a lack of cleanliness elsewhere, but these minor items were not a good 1st impression.

To justify the prices being charged, they need to up their game.

Took the Kids after the Imperial War Museum... 3 courses, bottle of wine, good kids meal for the six-year-old that included drinks & desert... Just what we were looking for!

I had a meeting in Croydon with suppliers and they wanted to take a few of us out “somewhere posh”

The Croydon Steak House isn’t posh but a lively conversation soon stopped when the steaks were served… all involved suddenly became very distracted by their food, which to my mind was a good sign.

The owners have been running the restaurant for 40 years and the décor looks circa 1978 whith Anaglypta and faux beams; every time the door opens you look up expecting Del-Boy but this place does exactly what it says on the sign outside… Brilliantly

I can’t believe this place is 5 minutes from my front door!

I let the place settle down for a couple of months before I tried it. That visit and the many since have all been brilliant

Money has been well spent making the place stand out. The food, service & vibe add up to making it one of my favourite restaurants in London (let alone Coulsdon)

It’s been open for a year now and I regularly pass the place. It’s always busy which shows the area wants quality
