Anniversary Lunch
For our first wedding we went to the Bingham for Sunday lunch. I had heard good things from friends and as it is right on the river we thought it would be a nice treat.

When we arrived we taken to the bar area where we got a seat on a comfie sofa right in front of the fire. We ordered some champagne and were given the menus to look over. Our order was taken here and we were left to enjoy the fire. We were collected and taken to the dinning room a few minutes before our entrees arrived. To our surprise we were the only people in there! Needless to say we had a great table with a wonderful view of the river and all the sunday river walkers. The room has a lovely feeling to it with modern decor.

The food was wonderful and the staff were attentive and friendly (but not over the top - thank goodness I was concerned being the only guests!)

When we ordered coffee we were given the option of having it in the restaurant or bar - we chose the bar and settled in by the fire.

We will be going back to the Bingham in the hope that it is busier next time so there might be a little more atmosphere!

Tea time
A friend and I met here for a sunday tea. When we arrived (about 12pm)the place was empty and I was a little concerned.... but by the time we left 2 hours later the place was packed and people were queing for seats! After looking at the menu I am not surprised as it is really set-up for morning and afternoon tea rather than lunch.

The tea menu is at least 4 pages long - rather daunting I found - so I randomly selected a flowering jasmine tea, which was rather nice.

When the tea arrived it came with a timer that told you when to stop brewing and start drinking for a weak, medium or strong tea! Quite a novelty.

I will definitely be returning to the Tea Box next time I am meeting someone for a hot drink, but if I am meeting someone for a bite to eat I will be going else where.

Cocktails anyone?
A tiny bar hidden away at the far end of Richmond shops.'super friendly' bar staff and a HUGE cocktail list. This bar is always packed on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are looking for a quite and peacful drink this is not the place for you.

The biggest problem you will have here is deciding what your first drink will be. If you are struggling the bar staff are always happy to help. Prices vary from 5-7 pounds per cocktails which is reasonable but means your bar tab adds up very quickly! Happy hour is very worthwhile with 2 for 1 cocktails (time changes each night so check their website).

The cocktails are so tasty but be warned they pack a punch.

Great Summer Pub
The Pitcher and Piano in Richmond is located right on the river. There is a large outdoor area which gets really busy during summer and is lots of fun. There are plenty of outdoor heaters so this area is still used in spring and autumn too.

The food and drinks you get here is exactly the same as all other P&P's in London (reasonable). The pub is much less appealing in winter as the interior of the pub is set over 2 floors, is surprisingly small and nothing too spectacular.

I would defintely recommend heading here in summer - in winter other pubs in the area have a lot more to offer.

Summer Tip - pizza on the green
This Zizzi is exactly the same as all the others.

During summer the Richmond Zizzi do take-away pizza specials. My advice is to order a few of these with friends and take them to the green (30 second walk away) and enjoy the great outdoors and weather (after all we must make the most of it while it lasts!). I find this adds an extra 120% enjoyment compared to eating in Zizzi.

The food is great but the feel and look of the restaurant is fairly average. My advice is to phone ahead with your order and then go and pick it up (usually 30-40minutes later).

Desert for dinner parties
I avoid eating/drinking at the Pauls in Richmond as it is small and not particularly inviting.

However the produce is fabulous! If you are having a dinner party and don't have time to bake I definitely recommend swinging by and picking up one of the tasty tarts! The citron tart is a particular favourite of mine and compares very well with those I have sampled in France

The pre-made baugettes and sandwiches are all very tasty and enjoyable. If you are on a diet I would avoid this place at all costs...

Great for Groups
Pizza Al Rollo is great for large groups as there are long bench tables and the pizzas are really easy to share.

The pizza here is really tasty and we have always enjoyed it. Our favourite is the goats cheese and caramelised onion.

Sue is right about the service - if they are busy you really won't get much - but when you do they are really friendly!

They do some good value mid-week lunch deals that are definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Tasty Thai
We find notting hill is central for a lot of friends so often head for the Churchill arms just for the thai. Make sure you book for dinner well in advance or you are likley to miss out on a table. The service is very quick and the food is fantastic - especially for the price! Once your allocated booking time is up they will have no problem in telling you and making you move. Not a problem as you can move straight into the pub for a drink.

Unless you plan on eating there I wouldn't both with this pub as there is nothing special (or awful) about it.

Cheap and Cheerful
There is a burger here for everyone! Have been a number of times and always enjoyed the food and fast service.

Although the decor is modern and new the whole experience is a bit like going to McDonalds - you have to order and pay for your food at the counter, they then bring it to you once it is ready.

Be warned - at certain times of the day and early evening there are a lot of children and associated noise (thanks to the wooden floor).

If you go there expecting a low key meal you will be really happy with what you get.
