Depending what you like it a pub you will either love it or hate it. My dad and my other half are regulars but it is not my kind of pub. It is very much what I would call a locals pub.

There are 2 sides to this pub. One side has a pool table and darts and tends to be where anyone younger goes (think they have a football team) the other side had a number of bench style seats, chairs and stools. I find all of the seating uncomfortable.

The clocks are set fast so they can call time early and you certainly won't get a late drink.

It may be a plus point for you but they do pizzas!!

There is also a garden so handy if you want to take your kids to the pub but it's not the kind of garden you would want to lounge in a loose a few hours with a drink on a lovely day.

This is a lively yet friendly trouble free pub. I have drunk there for a number of years and have never known any trouble (perhaps I am just lucky).

The staff are very friendly and there is never a long wait to be served.

The pub is split into different areas, downstairs consists of a seated area, slightly secluded from the main area which is idea for eating or quieter conversation then the main area which consists of a number of chairs and tables but also a large area for standing. Upstairs has seating and a couple of pool tables. Also upstairs are a number of TV's and a big screen showing main sporting events.

The food is proper pub grub and it is good. I always have a difficult choice deciding as there is a wide variety and it is all very delicious. There is also a roast option on a Sunday.

I have even been confortable there on my own waiting for friends or watching sport.

I generally go for karaoke on a Saturday night and have got to know a few people in there who are really lovely. The karaoke regulars are lovely friendly people, some of which are talented at singing others bring what I would call the true meaning of karaoke to life.

There is always a mixture of ages though if I had to I would say that it is a 30+ kind of place as an average.

There are 2 sides to the pub one is more the lively side where karaoke and dancing take place the other is more of a seating and chatting side.

The staff are always really friendly and I am surprised how quickly they remember my order so it's a case of 'same again'!!

There are chairs and tables outside for those that like the fresh air (and smokers) which can be lovely of a summers evening or a bright afternoon just watching the Rochester visitors wander about.

Would have liked to have given this restaurant 3.5 stars as 3 doesn't seem to do it justice but 4 is over the top.

It is a good consistent restaurant. Can't say it is anything special but there has never been a problem with service or the food.

I have always enjoyed every meal I have had there and it is always consistently good.

The atmosphere is always bustling and it is a comfortable place to be. It is generally busy though with 3 floors it is usually easy to get a table at most times.

The spiral staircase is lovely but be careful if you are wearing heals or a skirt!!

Generally a good place to go but don't expect the earth. I return time and time again.

This is a chain style pub with two areas. The upper area I would call the bar area and generally where the 'locals' go. Sport is also shown here and as it isn't that big a bar can get very busy when there's a big game on.

The other area is a much bigger seated area which generally classes as the restaurant. It is clean and was not so long ago renovated so is still looking pretty fresh.

The menu is good pub grub and has a varied selection to suit all tastes and also a children's menu.

The service has always been good. On my last lunch visit the service was unbelievable quick though there were only about 3 other tables in use.

The pub also has a nice sized garden and what has to be quite a selling point a children's play area which is always popular.

Play the game though of spotting how many spelling and grammatical errors there are on the menu :-)

This is a friends favourite restaurant so on her recommendation we paid it a visit and were certainly not disappointed.

My friend is a vegetarian so though it wasn't something I looked at the menu obviously caters very well for those that don't eat meat.

The whole style of the restaurant is lovely, a quant feel but not in an out dated way. I would say it's more a restaurant for couples or small groups as it has an intimate feel rather than a loud group setting though that's not to say we felt like we had to whisper.

The staff were always very courteous and professional and we did not feel rushed.

The food was lovely. I had chicken and a knife really was not needed, the meat was so tender and the taste lovely.

My only complaint would be the slight wobble of the table!!

This is a lovely little cafe situation near the cathedral. It is quite small so during lunchtimes it's not always easy to get a table. If you manage to get a window seat you can look out to the war memorial and the High Street. The service is always good, staff are always friendly. The menu isn't exactly vast but there is certainly enough choice to get you through a lunch or snack. Generally there is a specials board and this is always worth looking at. The fresh cakes they have has to be a main reason to visit. There is always a great choice which makes the choice even harder as they as all lovely. They are reasonably priced.

This has to be the best Indian restaurant you can find locally (apart from it's sister restaurant). The staff are always super friendly and efficient making you feel at ease, offering advise if required and generally adding to a great experience. I have never had any complaints with the food, everything is prepared to a very high standard. The menu is vast with all tastes catered for though if you don't see what you would like the chef will, if possible, create it for you. Always a popular place to go so be prepared for a wait if you haven't booked (especially at weekends) but it will be worth it.
