The freshest fish, and the best oysters in England
Whistable Fish Market, at Whitstable Harbour in Kent, is well renowned and rightly so. This lively and popular market sells only fish and shellfish of the freshest and highest quality, and the variety on offer is great.

The fish comes in daily straight from the Whitstable boats to the market - it doesn't get fresher than that. The variety is fantastic and you can shop with an easy conscience knowing that the market has a sustainable seafood policy which has been endorsed by the Marine Conservation Society.

I live driving down to Whitstable on a Sunday morning and picking up fish for my dinner, and without fail I always eat some oysters when I'm there. Whistable is famous for it's oysters and trust me they're to die for. Buy them from the market and eat them right there at the harbour, enjoying the most delicious oysters you'll ever eat.

A food lover's paradise
The variety of produce at Borough Market will astound you - you can get everything from ostridge steaks (and eggs) to pots of cassoulet brought over from France. You'll find big bunches of herbs that put the little packets in supermarkets to shame, quality fish and meat, oils, cheeses and truffles. The downside is that the market does get busy and can be pricey, but nethertheless it's well worth a visit.

Intimate, family run restaurant - good value
I've been dining at Choi's for over 7 years now. What keeps me coming back is the friendly service and the wide menu of food which is good value for money.

Choi's is well known locally and is popular on Friday and Saturday evenings. It's family run and the staff are friendly, accommodating and efficient - there's no waiting around here for service.

Try the sea bass in garlic and ginger, the scallops in black bean sauce and the tsingtao beer.
