Troy restaurant is one of Cardiff's hidden gems. Having lived there for 3 years I wasn't overly impressed with the food scene, too many mediocre chains and not enough interesting, fresh, cooking.

This un-assuming restaurant and take away looks as though it could be any other kebab shop from a distance but if you dare to take a closer look you will be delighted with fresh Halal meat and fish which are cooked to order on the open coal fire.

The staff are friendly and you can BYO making it the perfect place for a meal on the cheap. I must have been there 20 times & taken everyone I know from fussy friends to traditional & hard-to-please relatives, no one was ever disappointed, least of all me!

Love Wine Love Bedales
I first discovered Bedales whilst meandering around borough market trying to restrain myself from buying far more food than I needed for a dinner party that evening. There was a European couple outside enjoying a bottle and they looked so blissfully happy i found myself taking a look at the bar that had put such smiles on thier faces.

It didn't take me long to find out how; Bedales, along with simple and delicous tapas, offer all of their wines for sale at retail price. If you wan't to enjoy a bottle over tapas you just pay 5 corkage, as opposed to usual extortionate markups.

Bedales is firmly at the top of my list of favorite places to drink as you can afford to sample different wines and try new things rather than conservatively sticking to a safe choice so you don't get bitten. What a joy.
