Greatest crab sandwich!
Having noticed the sign for the Waterfront Cafe outside their sister Deli in Woodbridge town centre, I headed here with my Mum on a suprisingly sunny september day.
You can't drive all the way down to the cafe, but its a slow 5 minute wander from the large station car park, and we were lucky that an outside table was vacated just as we arrived. Its next door to the tide mill, and has lovely views out over the river and boats. The table next to us had their two small (very well behaved) dogs with them, and they do have a dog friendly policy, with a water bowl provided for them.
Th plan was for a quick lunch time snack, so I ordered their fresh crab sandwich, with an organic green side salad, and my Mum ordered a peeled prawn sandwich. Both sandwiches were wonderful.. obviously very fresh crab and prawns, with just a little hint of mayo and delicious whole grain bread. My salad was on of the best I have ever had - they grow their own leaves, and the variety was wonderful, and dressed with just a tiny amount of olive oil and balsamic vinigar.
The service was very friendly relaxed - so relaxed in fact that even though there was an obvious need for our sought after outside table we were never rushed, and 45 minutes later found ourselves ordering a desert! My summer fruit crumble with ice cream was close to perfect - plenty of crumble and a lovely variety of fruits. Mum had brioche bread and butter pudding and said it was the best she had ever had (outside of her own, ofcourse!).
I can't wait to return. The menu was full of fresh local produce (sardines on toast, lobster etc), simply prepared to make the most of their flavours.
