I've been to The Bridge a few times, but I have no clue what kind of music they play there because apparently it's The Bridge to Alcoholic-Blackout-Shire, population me. Seriously. The juice here tastes weird, so just stick to beer and maybe soda-based cocktails. Drink vodka and red bull if you want enough inebriation to think of bad ideas and still have plenty of energy to turn those into bad ideas into terrible decisions with awful consequences. I think I lost my shoes here once so I just rolled up my trousers and waded home in the river.

Kebabs are great, but you're really not supposed to eat them unless you're already so subhumanly intoxicated that you're holding the earth so you won't fall off, asking Kingsley Amis to take your car keys. That's the only problem with Kebab Kid-- it's open during daylight hours, way before you ought have each capillary of your eyes shot crimson.

So maybe it's my fault-- maybe I've developed a kind of Pavlovian response to eating kebabs-- but the only time I ate a kebab when I wasn't drunk, I started to feel kind of drunk. Not just a bit buzzing-- like, full-on crying-to-your-mother-on-the-phone kind drunk.

Built into the corner of Wadham College, founded in the early 1600s, The King's Arms offers average pints to average people. The ploughman's lunch is something of a novelty if one has never experienced a ploughman's lunch. A workhorse of a pub, The King's Arms offers a location convenient to towheaded Balliol sloans who don't know enough to stay in their own bar. Overall, an enjoyable little pub-- just mind your feet and don't trip over any scarves.

Hooray for the Folly!
Despite its nomenclature, the Folly Bridge Inn is not actually an inn, but rather a neighborhood pub that, when pressed, will serve food. Go there to experience the non-university side of Oxford. Outside, there's a wonderful beer garden that no one ever uses, excepting after-hours junkies who have been chased from the laundry.

Great sandwiches
The Alternative Tuck Shop has great sandwiches and wonderful salads. Everyone there is really nice. I highly recommend it if you're taking a break from studying at the Ox Cam or the PPE reading room.
