My girlfriend had a banana smoothee that came as strawberry, there were looks and audible tuts from the staff when she tried to explain the mistake. I wouldn't mind but we'd already corrected the woman at the till when she read the order back as strawberry some 20 minutes beforehand (perhaps I neglected to mention they took forever to make these drinks). What did arrive was neither smoothee nor bananaee, it was something like lumpy sorbet, mango sorbet at that. Perhaps you'd best stick to tea if you do visit.

This Chinese restaurant is just around the corner from my girlfriend's house and it's so good! The atmosphere is always nice if you are going in to eat, really comfy sofas opposite the bar too if you have to wait for a table. Takeaway is always great and always every bit as tasty as eating in, ready quickly too normally! I strongly advise that you give it a go if you are in or around Sheffield.

Phone: 0141 221 1779
Fab pub, pretty cheap , especially the food which is above average pub grub and served til 8pm. The only time I've seen it busy is a Saturday afternoon which is great, no matter what night of the week you go, you'll always get a seat. Not poncy, but not grubby and dingy either, just...comfortable. Great if you're looking for somewhere quiet to sit and chat, eat and drink.

The Vic is a great pub right alongside Beeston railway station near Nottingham. It always has a great selection of real ales and the food is lovely. A perfect pub for all us students to take our parents when they come and visit. It does have a no mobile phone policy (even in the beer garden, which is often covered by a heated marquee in the winter), but I've not yet seen anyone told off for subtly texting?!

Upon walking in my girlfriend and I weren't sure that we had the right place, it looked like a cross between a coffee shop and an organic grocers, but we followed the signs upstairs to the restaurant which was small yet bright and felt quite open. There is only one member of waiting staff and the place surely can't hold more than 30 people, but it feels cosy without being cramped and the food is really, really good.

Possibly the most amazing thing that will ever pass your lips is a Newland Carvery Mix Sandwich! Prepared by Maureen with a kind of motherly love as she tends to the students and locals of Hull's Newland Avenue area. The prices are good and the food is fantastic, all freshly prepared... you may even be given extra crackling or turkey skin if they take a shine to you! The only downside is that Newland carvery is not open on Sundays or bank holidays, often times that the hangover curing properties of these sandwiches are needed most.
