One of Clerkenwell's best-kept secretsA great Belgian bar tucked away in an anonymous London alleyway. Food was gorgeous (I went for the clichÃ©d but thoroughly tasty option of moules & frites) and the specials menu looked quite something. The beer was fantastic and the staff knowledgable and chatty.

Had a brilliant night hereJazz was excellent (and I don't normally like jazz), they laid on enough food for twice the size of our party, and the staff were really friendly and efficient.

Now a posh gastro kind of placeRecently redone up, the Wilmington is now a lively place with good music, comfy sofas, nice staff and a pretty decent menu (the Pie Minister pies especially) and a good range of beers too. Nice touch with the tumblers of Hula Hoops as a snack offering.

Pleasant but too eclecticA nice enough place, but I'm baffled as to the point of this place is - the cutesy playful tone and the really varied menu choice made for confusion - on the menu was Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Indian... with such a wide range of food it felt like it was trying to please everyone and the result was an OK meal. Jack of all trades and that - if only they really concentrated on one particular style and nailed it right I think it would be really good.

Incidentally, the staff were very friendly and the prices were affordable and I can see what it means by being child-friendly. I'd drop in again if I were passing and peckish but I wouldn't make the effort to specifically go there.

Tasty and at a good priceI only get takeaway from here and every time it's been tasty and the service is really nice and friendly. Can't testify to the sit-down part but it looks decent enough.

Likeable but not brilliantGiven the number of terrible sushi places in London this one's actually pretty good. But like the other reviewer here, it's the little things that annoy you, especially the disorganised staff (typically three or four different people will serve you through the course of a meal, with inevitable confusion) and the fact you have to squeeze up to a till to pay does grate. Still, the food (especially the sashimi) is good and their heart's in the right place (with their commitment to sustainable fishing). Good for a quick stop-off any time.

A good place to take fat friends toNot bad - but it did seem to over-prioritise quantity over quality, and the beef I got was neither as tender as full of flavour as I would have expected.

That said, there was lots of it, and if you have a big appetite - or a fan of novelty-sized superbig cuts of meat, then you won't be disappointed. And the atmosphere is nice and lively, and the service fine.

Also the house red wine wasn't too harsh - not expecting world class here obviously, but it didn't complement the meat at all.

Pretty goodYou can't book and the decor & style is over-trendy for my liking. And I can't comment on the authenticity of the food. But what we had was really tasty - top-class beef burrito for my friend, while I had the puerca pibil, which was simply delicious - just the right combination of citrus, spices and chilli. Guacamole was a little underwhelming but overall the food was great and the service efficient and friendly.

Nice night outA nice bar/restaurant for Putney - had a sophisticated bar style going without stupidly loud music or glary decor. Overall, it was comfy, friendly and chilled out and overall quite enjoyable. The food wasn't quite up to the prices given - the lamb was nice but not outstanding, and the potatoes not quite cooked through. But at the end of the day it was only priced a couple of quid more than I thought it deserved and in all other departments it won out - the ambience was great and the service more than friendly & hospitable.

OK but don't go for the foodAs slightly soulless modern pubs go, this is alright - fairly comfy, nice staff, amusing urinals, free wi-fi. The food, while very nice, came in grievously small portions - Â£11 for a ridiculously small shepherd's pie and a couple of tablespoons of peas didn't really do it for me. Neither did it live up to the fancy description on the menu (it was a pretty ordinary shepherd's pie to be honest) and my companion's prawn green curry looked like it had been made from a supermarket ready meal. Not great value for money
