No, no, no.My boyfriend and i had eaten out of here before and remembered it to be rather good (must have been another place we were thinking of), so we decided to get a delivery last night to save us cooking.

Never, EVER again.

Not only did our order take 1 hour and 35 minutes, no that's not a typo, 1 hour and 35 minutes to arrive (boyfriend stays 10 minutes away by foot), but the gravy resembled greasy brown water, the chicken in black bean sauce with green peppers was actually, no joke, 3/4 peppers and ontop of that, the delivery driver overcharged me (even though it's written down?!) and then had the utter cheek to come back to say he hadn't charged us for delivery!!

Not a chance in hell.

Next time, i'll starve.

Tags: friendly staff, bargain
The Royal Oak, PickeringWent here while on holiday in Pickering with my boyfriend in June 2007. It is actually a hotel, and the bar is downstairs, where you can walk in from the street. It was quite handy as it was across the road from an off-liscence and has a bus stop just outside.

My boyfriend enjoys pub meals and convinced me to try it, i was a bit sceptical at first as i just don't fancy the idea of it, seems like they won't cook it well as they aren't a restaurant but i'm really glad i did.

I ordered roast chicken and he had the roast beef, we tasted each others and agreed the food was very well cooked.

At first i was accidently given a roast beef, but within about 3 minutes, a member of staff was at my table, full of apologies and replacing it with the correct dish.

The decor' was not lively but was not dreadfull either. We sat in here for about 3 hours after deciding to make a day of it and had few drinks while chatting to the barman, who was friendly.

Basically, very good food(good value as well as tasty), "ok" atmosphere and friendly, concientious staff.

Phone: 0141 572 2125

Tags: lively, greek, seafood, family & home feel, good value, vegetarian, romantic
Very friendly and courteous service. My boyfriend and i have been here twice, for this years Valentines day and last years. We found it very inviting and have booked a table for the end of this month for his birthday.

The staff are very friendly and unlike other places i have been, don't rush you to order and frequently check to see you are comfortable and enjoying your meal.

I would highly recommend this for a number of occasions, birthdays, romantic nights out, girls/boys night out etc. It is quite a flexible atmosphere.

Both nights we attended there was greek dancing in which customers can get involved, however, it does get a bit noisy, so if that's not your thing, i wouldn't recommend it.

The food was delicious and i could not find a single flaw, cooked to perfection and an exquisite blend of flavours, no matter what you order. I was surprised at the extensive menu, which includes meals to suit all palettes: vegetarian, seafood, poultry, pork, steaks, soup etc.

Thumbs up.
