We ordered the Catalan bread (the tomato bread) and were brought some other type of bread. We didn't really have a chance to complain as the waitress put the bread down and walked off before we had a chance to even see what it was. We ordered 4 tapas and portions were very small and very expensive considering the size. Having said that the food was good. 2 of our tapas arrived together, we had finished both for quite a while before a third arrived. We had to wait ages for the 4th, asking the waitress if she'd forgotten at one point. One of the other waitresses even took our candle and started clearing our table assuming we were finished. The most irritating thing was the wine fiasco. We ordered a bottle of red from the wine list to be told they had run out. We then asked for the house red instead - assuming this was the cheapest bottle (£13). Foolish to assume I suppose but this is the case in 99% of restaurants. When the bill arrived the charge for wine was £18.50. I explained to the waitress. She walked off, spoke to another waitress, came back and said "If you had told me you wanted the cheapest wine I would have brought you the cheapest wine". At that stage I just gave up, paid £47 for 4 small tapas and a bottle of wine - admittedly nice wine and left feeling cheated especially knowing I could have got a much nicer, better value meal in so many other places nearby like Numero Uno.

(Was so annoyed when I got home I wrote this review on the TimeOut website - reproducing it here)

Phone: 020 8767 7655
Onam is my favourite Indian restaurant. I lived in South India for a while and I never had a masala dosa as tasty as those at Onam.
It's slightly off the beaten track as it's about a 10 minute walk from both Tooting Broadway and Colliers Woods tube stations but is definately worth the effort.
Great value - they do a daily special for £4.99 and a takeaway lunch-box for £2.99.
I can higly recommend the Kerala fish curry and the Chicken 65. I eat there at least once a week and have never had a bad meal.
