Several good to excellent real beers (recently awarded Cask Marque), bottles, and also choice of staple lagers and a keg beer if that's your tipple. Large, pretty and well sheltered garden hidden at the back of the pub. When I went there it was a pleasant mix of people from a local area strong in diversity, including workers at QMC hospital, Nottingham University and students. I happened upon one of their occasional special events held to mark their beer festival: had a very good night amongst friendly people and friendly (but not mollycoddling) staff. Must say, my dinner there was good too, and I claim to be a fussy vegetarian.

I reckon I've sampled a fair few fine (and some mediocre or worse), pubs, boozers and bistros throughout my travels. I recommend The Johnson Arms as up there with the very best. Will definitely return, which is the acid test.

Art that challenges, confuses, intrigues or repulses you can all be found here.

This gallery is often in the news in part due to the regularly changing exhibition in the Turbine Hall. Often these are interactive in some way whether based purely on visual art or sound or interacting through touch. Personally, I didn't like the Tate Modern at all, and the must hyped up crack in the floor didn't really live up to expectations. Before arriving I'd heard that some unfortunate people had become casualties because of the crack, so it was a disappointment when I saw it.

The Tate Modern is the home of a modern international and contemporary art. Before I visited the museum I hadn't seen much of ''modern art'', but personally I hated the ''art'' that I saw there a lot. If you are interested in modern art, then this gallery is for you, as it has many exhibits, but it's definitely not somewhere that houses something for everyone.

They do hold workshops, courses, and discussions, so if contemporary art is your thing, you should definitely visit!!

The Tate Modern is an awe inspiring gallery which is well worth a vist if you are in London for the day. About fifteen minutes walk from the London Eye it can offer a nice injection of culture in to any family day out. Be warned that there are some works of art that will not be appropriate for the younger kids, but ask any of the helpful and very friendly staff about this and they will be happy to help. Prepare to be challenged though by some of the more extreme works, which may stretch the boundaries of what art is in your mind. A challenging gallery that will open your mind as well as giving you space to think.

Although I do not like the outside very much, I find it a bit gray and drab, but inside the galleries are very impressive indeed. The big hall where you enter (I do tend to enter from the side entrance rather than the side facing the river) is very huge and impressive, and usually houses an impressive work of art. The permanent collection that the Tate has on display is very good and the non permanent exhibitions which change quite frequently are very good also. The sky was bland. The weather? Bland. Between breakfast and lunch, the highlight was the inserts in the free paper.

We drew up the agenda for the trip to town. The most exciting item was a visit to the building society to update Mrs Wifeyâ¬"s contact details. This was two years overdue.

Lost in the thrill of executing this administrative exercise, we found we had drifted to Pulse, the vegetarian café bar.

I generally consider vegetarianism to be wrong. Not *wrong* like Nazism, but nonetheless, an unnecessary crime against the palate. Still, I try not to be prejudiced (hey, some of my best friends are vegetarian!). On reading the menu, however, my excitement was measured, contained and humanely destroyed.

Vegetarian food is not strictly required to be tedious, but then one could say the same for house music. The day had already had blandness in spades; the last thing it needed was a chickpea burger too.

Instead we took the toro by the horns and headed for tapas.

Bar Tapas is another restaurant without ground-floor space ⬠this being dedicated to Brambles instead. Itâ¬"s also a personal favourite where, due to my tapas menu disorder, I inevitably order more than is sensible or healthy.

The walls are covered in posters for bullfights and similar Spanish paraphernalia; the ceiling is populated with football shirts, possibly from former Norwich City FC players. The smokersâ¬" den is chock-full, but we have the no-smoking room to ourselves, and sit under a window that offers daylight but no view.

Due to the price of real estate and the onerous restrictions of health and safety legislation, the sardines were grilled rather than flame-charred in a scuttled fishing boat. However, they were still mighty fine, and an excellent reminder of everything good on the Costa del Sol.

The ham and artichoke was also tasty, with a garlic and butter sauce so glorious that gluten-intolerants would queue to dip their bread in it.

As for the meatballs cooked with potatoes, peppers and peas, Iâ¬"d probably describe them as a new all-time favourite in the world-series meatball rankings. However, my meatballistic fickleness is notoriously bad, and I reserve the right to change my mind next week.

In all, itâ¬"s a wholesome experience, and as a paisano on a modest budget, that suits me down to the ground.

Timing is crucial and unfortunately we went late on a Friday afternoon- being one of the last attractions to close its doors it does attract a rush hour around 4pm. We didnâ¬"t leave ourselves sufficient time to stroll through the different quarters and consequently spent the hour briskly walking from room to room dodging the swarms of people and trying not to miss out too many rooms. The audio-visual exhibitions were quite stunning and well worth seeing, and we literally stumbled on some fantastic interactive exhibits. Give the audio-guide a miss unless you are a fanatic or always use them- although it is quite a funky gizmo it takes 5 minutes just to key in the exhibit number.

Phone: 020 7887 8008

Website: http://www.tate.org.uk/modern
The Tate Modern is a very pleasant way to spend 90 minutes. The building is quite interesting and strongly recommend you start on the top floor and work down. It is not necessary to view any or every piece of art in a modern museum. The video work is of little interest to some, but great for others. The Tate has a good mix of contemporary styles. It isn't the Guggenheim or MOMA in New York, but it is free and has some nice pieces.

The bridge across the Thames is a work of art in itself and a very nice walk.

Recommend this museum as a pleasant stop on the South Bank.

The tate modern ofcourse and i can see why. I visited the tate modern while studying art and found it very useful. The sheer variety of different art on offer is enough to boggle your mind and is a great place to visit if you require inspiration. I cannot really comment on the exhibitions as they are always changing, but when i have visited they have usualy been very good and don't follow the steriotypical view of modern art - "anyone could have done that".
