One breakfast I got I had to send back twice because the sausages were so undercooked they were still frozen in the middle (seriously).
- Slow service. For 'cosy' in some of the other reviews read 'slow and disaorganised'. Also tends to open late (i.e., delayed start, not 'late openings'), and fairly slow service, so not a good place if you're meeting someone or are in a hurry.

Pretty disappointing all round. Shame, as it looks promising from the outside.

The food is very good, not too oily and flavoursome. Portion sizes are also decent. It is also reasonably priced. Haven't been there for some time so not sure if they still do a buffet, but when I used to go, the buffet offered a wide variety of dishes and was not overly expensive. Dishes worth checking out are the taarka dhal and the lamb bhuna. The food is invariably exquisite, and most importantly it is unique. Many Indian restaurants have the same menus, and the same kind of flavours, but Star Of India, whilst keeping the classic dishes on the menu, prepares them in such a way that they are simply better than anywhere else! The chicken shashlick is divine, the chicken Jalfrezi has the perfect balance of flavours and spicyness, and the onion bhajis are juicy and flavoursome.
On top of this, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough for curry lovers, or for curry virgins.

Phone: 020 7434 2571

Website: http://www.thebreakfastclubsoho.com
This is my kind of place. Small, lived-in, low-key on the attitude, and good food. Even though there are only a handful of tables, I didn't feel like I was going to get the boot if I stopped off for a while to read my book. There is also a sunny "club" table at the front that is always a welcome feature when you're lunching solo. I'm going to disagree with the other reviewers about the cheapness of the place. I think the value of your meal was variable depending on what you ordered. Everything on the menu was about £5 if you ate in. Fairly standard for a full breakfast, but a little high for a jacket potato w/ baked bean, I think. That said, prices not surprising given the location and the atmosphere was such that I will definitely be back.
