Tags: excellent food, coach inn, georgian, beautiful, well lit, beer
Gorgeous Hotel/Restaurant/PubThe staff was exemplary and I have rarely felt so welcome (outside of the major hotel chains like The Ritz and Waldorf).

I was travelling with a buddy of mine who happens to be British and he suggested we stop in Stamford for a pint. I ended getting us both rooms at this place because I was flabbergasted at what a great place it was/is!

The pub is brilliant with some beautiful ladies tending the bar and an oustanding quality of people attending. Not for a "night out on the piss" though. The country gentry are in force and ponce it up a bit. DEFINITELY a brilliant place to take a lady friend out for a wonderful dinner or a weekend in the country!

Cheers,

Sean

Tags: comfortable, awesome staff, low ceilings, great food
Outstanding Atmosphere! Gotta visit this pub! After a rather long drive up from London, and the suggestion of a friend in London, we pulled into Middleham and found The Swan.

I should qualify what I am about to say here though: I am a Yank, and while an afficianado of pubs, my experience is as buoyed by atmosphere as it is by whats on tap.

Having said that, I utterly enjoyed The Black Swan. From the rustic feel and atmosphere of the place, to the people I encountered while enjoying my pint(s) and sandwich.

The food is first rate for a pub and the beer, well, it is beer.

If you find yourself in this area, this is WELL worth the stop. The next trip, I will be staying in this pub!

Cheers!
Sean

The tree growing up in the back part of the bar resulted in my meeting a really fit bird!

All in all, an ace place!

Cheers,
Sean

Phone: 020 7353 6170

Website: http://www.yeoldecheshirecheese.com
Absolutely brilliant pub! I am a Yank and the age of the place impressed me (not hard to do when you are a Yank) and the nooks and crannies of the place make me come back. EVERY time I am in London. It is almost a pilgrimage at this point!

The pub is awesome, though, in order to truly appreciate it, get some big tall bastard to go downstairs with you and watch them try to navigate the insanely short stairs! (there are plenty of stairs, but the ceiling comes down awfully close to them!)

I cannot give this pub a high enough rating!

Cheers!
Sean
