When I first moved to London a friend brought me to Freud's. I was really impressed and became quite a regular. It's a nice place, tucked away at the bottom of a precarious staircase on Shaftsbury Ave. It's in the basement, with nice exposed stone walls and art from up and coming artists on display.

Expect nice cocktails and wine, I especially like that they serve the wine in glass tumblers. The food is reasonable pub grub: soup, salads and sandwiches, always pretty decent. I have only eaten here the once and probably wont eat there again as to me it is too expensive and the wait to be seated is unbelievable!

I will admit that the food portions were relatively big and tasted pretty good but the prices are just too much. I would only recommend going there as a treat or if you can afford their prices.

You definitely need to pre-book your table as when I went there they gave us this little control thing that beeps when it is your turn but we waited for nearly two hours!

Oh they also have a little shop/museum thing next door.

The Hard Rock Cafe is another great restaurant that you just have to eat at if you are ever in London. A little expensive but they offer a wide selection of food ranging from hearty meal to snacks and sandwiches. There's some great drinks on offer, especially their cocktails, and you even get the chance to take home one of their signature cups if you don't mind paying a little extra with certain drinks. It's a great place to visit, especially if you are out celebrating with friends and family. Be warned though...book in advance as waiting times can stretch for hours! Move next whilst waiting and you'll be able to visit their shop which includes a rock memorabilia museum!

This place is always packed at lunchtime and in the evening, and itâ¬"s easy to see why. The food is fresh and delicious (and healthy too), and thereâ¬"s an interesting selection of teas and juices to accompany your meal. Expect to pay around a tenner for a drink and a meal. Diners sit around large square tables, and thereâ¬"s never a long wait to be served (although you may queue to get in of an evening). The only downside is that it isnâ¬"t somewhere where you might spend a long drawn out evening ⬠itâ¬"s very much eat and leave. Always a line to get here during peak hour, it's a canteen-feel restaurant, quite cosy as you end up sharing the table with other patrons. The thai food is fairly average, the curry nothing to write home about but it's got a good vibe and the service is pretty good.
