The Adelphi is out of the way a bit of Leeds city centre and this only adds to its magnificence! Hands up who has ever seen a chav in here? No? Because it's too far from Yate's / Birdcage etc for them to trek down to (less than 10 minutes from these places by the way...)

Usually full of professionals after work, on a weekend it is really lively and one of the few places in Leeds which, in my opinion, doesnt get full of idiots after about 10.30.

Proper pub grub is served in the lovely traditional pub setting. If you're early to meet your friend after work you can grab a book and sit in the corner on a comfy chair to wait for them. Fantastic in every way!

The Reliance - what a place. From the huge glass windows to the shabby, comfortably worn in furniture, the setting is one that lulls you in and keeps you there. And then prepared to be bombarded with a sensual experience that you won't forget in a hurry. From the detail - great olives, twice cooked chips to die for to the main courses - from the best steaks around to the special fish dishes that are always cooked to perfection - they always get it right. Real ales (they only every carry two) are always served to perfection and with some other interesting beers on draft, there's something for everyone. And how refeshing to have realistically priced bottles of wine.
A previous reviewer mentions it being 'home' - couldn't agree more, but it's home to a huge variety and diversity of people - and that must say something about the quality of food, drink, welcome and the whole experience.

The Adelphi is one of the few pubs in Leeds with a large range of decent beers. It is a proper grown up pub with no 16 year olds cluttering up the bar as is so often the case. They have a belting quiz and have unusual bar snacks kept in big jars behind the bar (e.g. wasabi nuts). It gets busy from about 5.30pm weekdays with professionals and it can be difficult to find somewhere to sit, however it is well worth a visit if you want to go to a 'proper pub'. The food is nice if a bit on the pricey side and you might be best off going 'off peak' (i.e. when the suits aren't in!) if you want to sit down with it.

I'm torn. On the one hand, The Reliance is just a good pub - but on the other hand I always have a great time whenever I'm there.

It does get busy on an evening, but you never have to fight your way through the crowd, and the food is really good.

Big windows at the front let in lots of light, and the atmosphere inside is relaxed and friendly.

The location is a bit out of the way, it's past the innter ring road if you're coming from town, but that hasn't damaged its popularity!

Try it - you might like it!

The Adelphi Hotel in Leeds is actually only a short, less than 5 minute walk away from the city centre, and it is well worth that walk. It's not overpriced, it's not pretentious and it's not full of luvvies or yuppies.

I've never tried the food but I have heard it is very nice. The drinks are very nice certainly and the place is clean and warm. It is very welcoming and the staff are nice and always have a few words to say!

I would strongly recommend you pop in here if you are visiting, it's a great place and you will like it.

This pub has so much character. Its got seperate rooms and although the bar area is small, its nice for a sit down. They also do nice pub style food.

The Reliance is a really good pub / restaurant. It might not offer you all the excitement you need late on a Saturday night but that's not what it's there for! The food is amazing, my favourite is the twice cooked chips, or re-heated as I ordered. The range of beers is always huge and other drinks are covered. The atmosphere is really nice, although once we did the music quiz and felt a bit out of place as it was pointed out several times that we weren't thirty-somethings. all in good humour though!

From the beautiful store front glass windows, to the faded bohemia of it's mismatched furniture, The Reliance is hard bar to better. Friendly faces, great guest beers, and a relaxed atmosphere. Sparkles in the winter evenings, sun kissed in the summer months - you'd be hard pressed to beat this place at any time of the day.

Adelphi is one of the best places to eat or drink in Leeds! From the outside it looks like a traditional pub, in fact it used to be the nearby Tetley brewery's flagship pub, but it's so much more than that! At the moment I'd say it's the best pub in Leeds! It has 4 rooms and each one is very different in style and atmosphere. It can be a very lively place at the weekend, but don't let that put you off as you can usually find a quiet corner in one of the other rooms. The food here is excellent with good service too, while The bar is well stocked including Tetley, weekly changing guest beers and the wonderful Leffe Blonde on draught! Thumbs up all round!

The Regent is a decent traditional pub situated in the busy Chapel Allerton area of Leeds. It has 2 main rooms with a large and popular seating area outside. They serve several well kept real ales including Tetley, Black Sheep and Deuchers IPA. It can get busy at weekends and for the football and rugby. They've got loads of screens, although they don't really dominate the pub. The crowd is mixed but the atmosphere is relaxed.

I couldn't agree more with Big Andy. This is a great bar and never disappoints whether you visit straight after work, later on at the end of an evening out or just want a lazy Sunday afternoon brunch with the papers. Great atmosphere that is super cool without any pretension.

Whitelocks is the oldest pub in Leeds and is the only one to constantly make the good pub guide so they must be doing something right! It's hidden away off Briggate but it's well worth a visit. There's a good selection of well kept real ales as you'd expect. A good traditional boozer!

The Reliance is my favourite bar in Leeds! It's a brilliant place whether your having a quiet drink in the afternoon, a meal at their superb restaurant or a few beers in the evening. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, a well stocked bar including a couple of well kept real ales and very friendly staff. The bar meals are great and the restaurant is top notch. A superb all rounder!

The Palace is a good old fashioned pub with plenty of well kept and constantly changing real ales. There's a good relaxed atmosphere with plenty of seats inside and out. The bar does get busy at peak times though.
