The right menu...wrong ingredientsBeeches is a medium sized restaurant,with an lod world feel with low beamed ceilings and a warm feel.
The decor is "faded Indian Restaurant" style,and needs a makeover.
The menu is good to look at but the execution is poor/bad.
The ingredients for the dishes we had were poor and the cooking of the dishes was executed to the book,but the finished results were either disaster or bland beyond belief.
So Prawn and crayfish Marie rose was a goos size with plenty of prawn and crayfish (frozen I suspect) bottled marie rose sauce and the salad garnish(very small)No flair..it was what it was(best value on the night)we could all do better at home.
The Snails with parsley mash.Tinned snails and greasy lumpy mash.
Crab mornay........disaster........a tin of crab too much cheese and in the oven 'til baked through it came swimming in the fat from the cheese..no seasoning no finesse.......inedible.(to be fair when we complained it was removed from our bill.Chips fried in dirty oil.
Fillet steak was cooked properly no real flavour or seasoning,asparagus...baked to death..sautee potato undercooked greasy..spinach not washed properly.
All in all not a good night really,do let me know if you fare better.
The cooks seem to have read the cook book but not tasted the fruits of thier labour.
Will not return

Blessed with First Class FoodWhat do you do with a pub that has the disadvantage of being islolated in a windy corner on the Thames Estuary.
Serve fantastic food!!
The ingredients are top quality local and the chefs work in a glass enclosed kitchen so you can see what is going on from outside the pub.There is nothing fancy about the pub itself but there is about the food.
The menu is small but the chefs know what they are doing with the food.The choices of wine,cheeses,meats and seafood are truly quality based.I could wax lyrical about any of the dishes we had,suffice to say that I cannot criticise any of them,truly amazing.
The leg of lamb came as two cuts,shank and prime leg the prime leg was good the shank was epic deep flavours of what lamb should taste like ....homemade strawberry ice cream with cream and shortbread biscuit and more cream truly EPIC.
Cheese board ...skate...homemade bread...even the butter was exceptional.

Nice foodShame about the chips!
We went there during August and the food was great except the chips which looked great but were crispy and inedible.The fish was great the ploughmans was fantasticbut the chef's response to the complaint was that it was because during August chips come out like that.
Sorry guys not good enough,they were like that because they were cut small and used new potatoes,I object strongly to B/S..no refund no apology just tough.
I also have doubts as to the suitability of wooden boards for dining room use,and the acceptance the=at the chef can have a fag in the front garden still dressed for cooking.I also saw that some of the food came from Somerfield as a member of staff came through the restaurant with a couple of bags of frozen food.
Will not return.

No NO NOOne star for the quality of the food...same reliable stuff.
I would question the morality of giving away glasses with every large meal.Carbon Footprint!!!
Do not go too many tatts earrings piercings and yooof.
There is no public acess to toilets without getting a staff member to open the door and then there is no water in the handwash in the gents..........

Great ValueNot cheap but great value.The portions are good sized with the emphasis on fresh homemade quality ingredients.

Best of BeefeaterWent here for lunch..quite surprised by the quality and value for money.

Service is well timed and not intrusive.
The menu has something for everyone.
Roast dinner..seafood pasta...very nice prawns..speck..lasagne ..garlic bread was very good.
