The rooms are tiny and a bit spartan. But the food is well-prepared and service cheerful
and fast. Coffee is excellent as is the fresh OJ. Prices are very reasonable. It is one of the best cafes in the area and I eat here regularly - what higher praise can there be? Open all day.

Phone: 020 7935 2911
I've been coming here for over 2 and a half years now so I guess Oli and I can describe ourselves as regulars. I've tried time and again to get my bespoke sandwich listed on their blackboard as a "Brown Special". It's a cracking combination of crayfish tails, chorizo and a drizzle of mayoniase with lettuce. It's delicous when stuffed inside a poppy seed baguette. The day that sandwich makes it onto the board is the day that I do a lap of honour naked around Marylebone! (Probably a good reason for them not to!)

They serve a great range of freshly made baguettes, sandwiches, salads, pastas and on Wednesday roast chicken as well as lots of tasty brownies, cakes and other goodies.

Get there for lunch early on Friday's for the best fish pie in London. It's very special indeed.

Just be careful in summer beacuase it gets really hot as you queue next to the air conditioner that actually warms you up!

The decor is modern (but classic) and the rooms well designed. Room service is fabulous (no compromising on quality as sometimes happens), and the little extras - for example the DVD library - are fun.

The staff are helpful and respond positively to individual requests, which helps make your stay even more of an indulgence (which it will be at the price - although offers can be negotiated at off-peak times, especially at short notice).

It is quiet and a little quirky. The front of the cafe is rather misleading as the actual eating rooms stealthily stretch back along an unlikely corridor.

Part of the charm is the retro feel. It is a little like you are on a 50's/ 60's film set.

Let me point out that this is not flash (in case you were somehow getting the wrong impression). Nosh of the day is usually pasta, soup or a quiche of some description. Simple but tasty. As Walid points out, their little biscuits that come with a coffee are rather nice. I need to suggest to them that you get with one a cup of tea too, or that is a little unfair!

Sometimes the wind instrument shop next door can have music lessons and you may get notes floating in (not necessarily from advanced pupils).

This may not be for everyone and to be honest this is the kind of place I don't want too many people to know about (he said selfishly)...

As you come in you follow a corridor that leads you to an array of rooms where you can find tables and chairs to relax in while sipping your coffee or eating one of their little biscuits. The staff is friendly and as the pic shows quite happy to be photographed on TrustedPlaces.

What I liked about this place is that if you're looking to have a business meeting and not be disturbed whilst having a nice drink then you'll like the Chiltern Rooms as it really is quite uncanny quiet in there.

As an added bonus they have those small tasty buttery biscuits which they bring along with your coffee or tea which are quite tasty and not too hard.

If I have a piece of advice for them I'd suggest they have some comfy sofas in one of their rooms and free wifi... that would definitely earn them a 5 star rating!
